Angry 06 TL loaner car--A hell of difference!

Dropped off my car at dealership and picked up a 06 loaner this morning. Exaxtly the same model, 5AT-no-navi, and color, WDP.

WOW, this car feel totally differnet than mine. The engine feels a lot smoother, almost as smooth as my 03 TL, you basically don't feel any vibration from the steering wheel at both idle and running. IT feels like it has better engine mount which dampens the vibration very well, in contrary my 05 TL feels like the engine is directly bolted to body frame--you feel a lot of vibrations.

The ride is different also. THe 06 loaner has MIchillins on it, and they are waaaaay better than the BS Crapporenza tires!!! Coming in and out of the dealership, I was driving on the same pavement, and the 06 feels much more forgiving, and it doesn't translate every granule on the pavement to a jolt in the cabin like the BS tire does! With Michillins, the car feel supple and always centered, (you can even take hands off steering while going straight, while when you have the BS tires doing this will be a dead curse) and of course, a lot quieter. I kinda get back the "nimble and effortless" feel that I have for my 03.

I guess if what I have were this loaner, I can appreciate all the compliments for the TL. IT is just bad luck of me. I bought my 05 and thought I have avoid the problems with the first model year , but too bad, I still got a lemon. Please forgive me for all the bashing on the TL, they are just for my TL, not all.

I drove an 06 loaner for two days this week. I didn't feel too much difference. The car did seem to be put together a little better than my 04.

I felt the same way when I drove an 04 TL loaner, it felt different than my TL. It shift smooth and ride was different, maybe it was the new BF Goodrich tires that where just in stalled.

Other differences: 1. my transmission jerks and jolts, while the 06 loaner is silky smooth. fuch.

2. The parking brake handle on 06 has a more solid feel to it. It doesn't make noise when engage.

3. Door panels are better secured from inside. When you push on them , they don't move. BUt on my 05, door trim moves and sqqueaks at a finger touch.

4. Trunk lid is also dampened. WHile mine always slam shut by itself and makes a carppy rattling sound.

^^ Did you buy your car new? Sounds like at least some of those complaints are service issues.

I have an 05 WDP w/ navi and it came with the Michelins.

I haven't experienced the vibration that you're referring to and the ride feels great. Sure, I feel some bumps, but I expect that with low profile tires.

There is huge difference between a vehicle with Turanzas vs. Michelins. I borrowed an '06 Auto with the Bridgestones, and I have a '06 Manual with Michelins. There is a major difference in NVH. The loaner with the Bridgestones had a lot more noise and vibration. I couldn't believe how big a difference it was. I asked the service manager if the tires were the reason, and he said the tires were the reason.

You know the drill, everyone on this board hates Turanzas.

Have u had an alignment yet? I had a vibration and after I had an alignment the vibration was gone. It also tracks straight as an arrow...

I got an 05 loaner once when I dropped off my 04 for service and I was surprised by how much more pep it had. I posted about it here and folks explained it's probably because it was probably driven hard more regularly than mine, so it learned that driving style. In any case, it was certainly different.

I just got done driving a '06 while my '04 was in the shop and the only difference I could tell(other than I have 18's and A-spec susension)was that the seats were more comfortable. Maybe because of the extra stitching added to "curb" butt prints.

I think gainful needs to trade to an '06 from an '05 as some others have done as his '05 is obviously a POS from his prior comments. His was clearly built on Monday or Friday.

Gainful I have finally read one of your posts and didnt immediately get pissed at you.

Im sorry that your car has all the issues you speak of. I truely hope that you stick with Acura. Now that you have driven the 06 I think you are seeing what the rest of us have been feeling since we've owned ours.

You've always thought it was an I love Acura site. Well it kinda is, we all appreciate our cars in our own way. I hope one day that you will too. Good luck!

The tire difference is huge. My Dunlop Wintersport snow tires are quieter than the BS EL42's, despite aggressive snow tread. Also, no 60 mph vibes with the Dunlops.
