'05 TL, VINs and Michelin/Bridgeston tires

Was at Serramonte Acura dealership today for an oil change and while I waited (those bastards didn't give me a loaner car for a "minor" service) saw 3 new '05 TLs on their lot.

Checked our their VINs and saw two cars, 11xx and 12xx VINs, STILL had the Bridgestones on them. The third car, 16xx VIN did have Michelins on it. So I am guessing the first 1,200 to 1,500 cars of 2005 still have the "left over" tires from last model year.

So this is a heads up for all those picking up '05s in the near future. Make sure to check out your VIN and what kind of tires you get. Make the dealer change the tires to Michelin, I am pretty sure Acura will reimburse them for their trouble.

Incidently saw another on the same lot '04 TL with 28xxx VIN with the old non-reformulated PVC EL42s on it. I guess the owner of that car does not hang around this board. If my TL had PVCs on it when I bought it, I would have made the dealer change the tires on the spot before I took deliver (mine has TU2).

This board does make a difference...

My 05 was in the 5 hundreds and had the michelens on them. Maybe the dealer changed them?

Or maybe the navi has michelen while the non navi does not (or manual vs auto).

Mine is an 05 navi manual

Hmm, don't think Navi would make a difference. But all 3 cars I saw today were automatics. That may explain it, as I would think manual would require better performance tires ahead of automatics.

I think the navi does make a difference. Navi models should have the Michelins and non-navi have the Bridgestones. The type of transmission is irrelavant. But, I suppose, anything is possible.

repecat is correct, the Navi models get Michelins and non-navi models get Bridgestones, transmission has nothing to do with it

Correction, the 6 spd manual does have performance tires as opposed to the auto which has the all-season tires.

incorrect, you can get option HPT (high performance tire) package, which is 200 extra, but stock, the auto tranny and manual tranny have the SAME bridgestone tires, however if you have navi, you get Michelins, regardless of transmission this is tru for 2005s only

I stand corrected. Too many variables for my brain to process. Thanks for the info.

Just as a confirmation, my '05 Navi has the Michelins with a VIN that is under 50.

Thanks. Yeah, I sure did. It was actually available at the dealer on Sep. 23, but didn't pick it up until Sep. 30. Very happy so far.
