I just noticed that they pulled the valve stem on the tire...Thats unreal, is it possible to pull one out by hand, or do you need pliers?

A garage is a must. I dont think I would be able to sleep at night if my TL-S had to sit outside. Does the apartment complex you live in offer garages? Years ago before I bought my house I lived in an apartment for a couple years which offered garages for an extra hundred bucks a month. I absolutely did it!

Unfortunately my complex does not offer a garage but I do have a covered spot. This is the last time I will be living at a “student living” complex unless they have an actual garage. I will most likely not be driving the TL once its been repainted and just drive my dads older 4runner that we use moving or towing stuff.

Thats probably a good idea. Since I have never personally dealt with a car being keyed does anyone know if there are now ways to fix a key job without an entire repaint?

Well the three shops that Ive been to want to repaint it. One of them just wanted to respray what was keyed and leave the bumpers, roof, aspec kit, and mirrors alone. Personally I need to redo the rear bumper since its discolored since Im WDP and theres a couple scratches. The front has rock chips, and the previous body shop did a crap job.

Also WDP is such a hard color to match, they recommend a whole respray thats going to get done right. Ive always wanted a black roof anyway. Heres the body shop that will be performing the work: http://samuelsauto.com/

Damn man, sorry this happened to you. When I was in school, I saw a lady backing out of a driveway and hit the car on the opposite side of the street behind her. She looked around, got out and looked at her car and bailed. I followed her, reported her to police, saw them pull her over and went back and put a note on the person's car with license plate number and my phone number. I have a strong dislike for people like that - hope it doesn't happen to you again.

Man sorry to see what happened to you car that sucks. Yes be very careful with whom you choose to paint your car, as I have seen many horror stories with Pearl White cars paint matching etc etc. That is my biggest fear with Z and the Max as they are both Pearl White, good luck with it.

People have no respect for other peoples belongings. I wish someone in the complex would leave me a note or notify the front office or something.

The only reason why I will be repainting the entire car. The shop that Im dropping it off tomorrow seems more then capable to doing a good job. They had many high end cars sitting outside waiting to get work done. If you guys are familiar with Titan Motorsports, they send all their supras there to get custom wide bodies and paint.

I just wanted to update everyone about the progress. The insurance came out and cut me estimated the damage to $4950 minus both bumpers, aspic kit, and mirrors. Ill be paying an extra $1k to get those items painted and the inlay of the grill painted black to compliment the blacked out headlights. Ill be posting some photos of the tear down later on.

Oh man, in all sincerity, I'm sorry to see/hear this. Personally, I don't care if I had all the money in the world and it got fixed that day and it was no big deal; the shear fact that someone did that to your personal property (not to mention a nicer car than they will likely ever have) is just infuriating. I would be in a murderous (not literally--dont kill anyone) rage until I found who did that...but that's just me...hopefully you're not like me and move past such things, but man that is so hard to take in. I better move past this thread before my blood pressure gets to high!

Sorry to hear about it man, I totally know how horrible it feels to walk out to a effed up car. An ex of mine keyed f**k you a$$hole down the side of my explorer because she thought I slept with her best friend after we broke up, long story short the police said they didn't have enough evidence to pursue a case... Worst part about it I was never with her friend all I got out of it was a messed up truck. But I wish you luck with your situation, I hope you find the Ahole who did this and make em pay for the damages.

By the sounds of things your younger (like me), and when my TL was vandalized (two of my bf goodrich tires on 20's where slashed), the officer told me that a vast majority of vandalisms are actually done by older folks (40+), and generally they just have a chip on their shoulder when they see a younger kid driving a nice car. Just jealousy. Hope everything works out for you...

Hey guys sorry it took soo long to update, the shop was able to start working on my car last week. Anyway I was able to stop by the shop and have Brad explain what has been done and what else is on the list before it heads in to get painted. When I was leaving the PDR guy just showed up to take a couple dings out. Here are some photos that I was able to take today.

omg lol, i must post my pics. I have haters all over bro. My car was always kept in top shape. Washed my car twice a week and all. Someone went around my whole car and punched my car making like 8 dings on the edge of top of the door. Done in both doors. A big ding on my rear left fender, made 2 dings on top of my trunk, keyed my left front fender and my right right side fender. My doors and roof are the only parts that doesnt need a job. Will be posting pics up soon.

Damn I can't believe people vandalize private property. I rent an apartment but I always leave the car in the front of the apartment. I have a clear view towards it but I can't deny I worry sometimes. Hope everything turns good with your car

Sadly, when a car gets keyed, you cant just repaint that panel. It will stand out.

any good body shop will blend the paint to the adjacent panel, this means the scuff the whole panel next to the repair, feather out the base coat on that panel and then clear the whole part.

A car like this would need full paint, maybe less roof or something like that.

Insurance wont even let body shops "butt blend" anymore (paint one panel) like a fender or door.

I had my back door scuffed and needed the front door and quarter repainted, but it is a seamless finish!!
