05' tl buttprints

Well, you all know I got my car on Monday - less than 300 miles and already the beginning signs of buttprints. It is not bad, yet...and I don't plan on asking for replacements until it gets really bad..... I was hoping the 05' wouldnt have had this problem....

on the other hand i really doubt i would have noticed if it wasnt such a big deal on the boards... my tsx didnt have the problem...but let me tell you my infiniti fx35 was the WORST!

Actually I feel the same way - I would have never noticed or cared if the Infiniti forum and the Acura forum hadn't made such a big deal out of it for both cars..... do I really care? Na not really - now if I go to sell the car, it would be awesome if new leather seats were put in just so it looks like it is in excellent shape... other than that I don't really care!

If we used that argument, then it would be OK if the leather ripped whenever you sat on it. When you're driving, you don't see the tear so what's the big deal, right?

The big deal is that we paid a lot of money and expect the seat to be better designed. This is not some cheap Ford, this a $35,000 Acura. Imagine having a butt print on the passenger seat and a friend gets in and notices. What will you tell them? That you paid $35,000 and got cheap leather?

thats a very vaid argument and i fully agree. rips and cracks are unacceptabe on seats, but butt prints?

All soft leather will start to stretch and wrinkle. I had a $4K leather sofa that stretched and wrinkled. It was much more comfortable than the thick leather sofas. As for this being a problem with the 05, I have 2700 miles on my 05 and no butt prints or strectching yet ( and I'm not a small guy). Maybe it is more apparent for those who have narrow butts and whose weight isn't distributed out across the seat.

True... the narrow butt thing has been discussed - and I don't know to believe it or not.. but i wasjust posting all this so people knew what I was seeing - in all honesty, my tsx didnt really have a big problem (that i noticed at least?) and this i probably wont care about... my infiniti on the other hand...it was really bad..but i still never complained about it (guess i was more worried about the leaking sunroof)

in the tl.. i probably wont care about it...

I've had my 05 for 2 months. I have 5200 miles on it, and there are no butt prints on the seats.

OK, you paid $35K and have butt prints and OMG how to tell a friend who really may never notice them, that you have the big bad butt prints.

I have a 03 TL-S and yes, I too, have those big bad butt prints! OMG, lets get the National Guard out on this and tell Acura we won't take it anymore!!! Get rid of BUTT PRINTS.

Please guys, their are way more important things in life to worry about than butt prints. Just chill out some what and you will enjoy life a hell of alot better

Hey all,

loungn14, I looked at your pics, I really don't see what the big deal is. I have similar stretched areas on mine, and they haven't changed in the last 4000 miles (total miles 5500). I understand that some feel they represent cheap materials, but I really don't think that is the case. The leather has "broken in", and it probably won't appreciably change over the time you own the car.

Have fun with your new ride!

loungn14's 05 seat.
This is a wake-up call for someone who's trying to get the 05' style seat cover. I wouldn't bother doing it after seeing this picture.

Well now that we have confirmation that the butt print problem hasn't been resolved, does anyone have an opinion on which seat is more comfortable, the 04 or 05?

Well - you have a warranty and it seems acura has been willing to replace the seats thusfar... so if it gets really bed go to the dealer and ask for a replacement????

Look at #16. Is that the leather seat itself? If that #16 is correct as listed on the acuraparts247 site then the leather pad itself is $66????? that can't be right.... I assume its just a typo - but if it is true, then its clear acura is using crappy leather...

but again, i personally coudl care less about the seats as it is now... if it gets bad, will u go ask for replacements? sure i will... will it get that bad? who knows

It looks a lot better than what's in the 04. I still think it's worth swapping seats.

No, it is more like $300-the item you are referring to is a seat pad, not the leather cover.

Here is the parts listing, with list and selling prices.

The cover sets are items 14 and 16 for the cushion, and items 2 and 13 for the seat backs.

Both are called "cover sets". I didn't see any listing for the pads. Maybe they come together with the leather.
