so im on highway 121 in texas going to carrollton at like 11 pm. and this highway is 2 lanes and im at a red light and i have 2 after market mufflers so i go at green and switch to the left. all of a sudden i see this car on the right and im like damn this fools coming fast, turns out to be an rx8 and i wanted to see if i could get it down. so i gunned it too..also i couldnt switch to tiptronic cause i have this ipod cradle lol so i i can only put it in drive..and we stopped at another red light and goddamn those little shits are quick! i guessed it wudda been MT and its alot lighter, so he beat me by a good 2 cars length..and i had my lil sister with me so yeah..shit i was pissed..any thoughts on why he beat me? oh and i have a AEM CAI

check your skillz... everything I have read about the rx8 on AcuraZine says that you should have destroyed it...

 

autos are way slower than the manuals in that RX8...
so did he beat you by 2 cars from a dig at the red light? or did he just come up on ur right and fly by u as u punched it? In that case he could of been moving to fast for you to catch him.

he was a good driver and if it was a short race an MT always have the advantage. I don't doubt you lost a stoplight race with an rx-8. he probably dropped the clutch at 4krpm or higher and took the launch really quick and hard.

 

His racing skills is terrible. I used to get alot of them around here trying to race me. I would spank 100% of them... until I got my supercharger and supercharged badge in the back... I haven't got challenged since.

Man i dunno how you lost cause i was coming home and this rx8 was up my ass on a single lane street. Further down the road it opens up to two lanes and a long stretch for about 2 miles. He switches into the fast lane and i'm also AT mind you...and i was doing about 80km, dropped it into second reving high and punched it...All i could see was in my rearview mirror after shifting to third and runnin her all the way to redline he was slowly moving further back in my rearview mirror...Pulled up to the next light and i ask him if he let her rev up to that impressive 9000 rom redline and he gives me the yes! He even admitted that he had a hard time tryin to match me.

 

Yup, this has been discussed before. The RX-8 auyo is slower than hell. We can match maybe even beat a 5-speed, but the 6-speed will kill us. Unless you have a Supercharged 6-speed TL

 

for some reason, the talk and exchanging of car info doesn't happen out here in California. especially if you've just torn them a new one. too many haters out in these parts.
