'05 Acura TL vs '07 Jeep Commander (Hemi) vs '04 BMW 330ci

I was wondering which one would win?

I'm pretty sure the TL will smoke the Commander, even with the hemi (just too heavy)

But I think the BMW and TL could potentially be a good race, from a roll or from a dig.

All cars are bone stock.

It will be a good race for sure. I guess it depends on the drivers.

You will beat the Bimmer without a problem, just use SS to hold out the gears and pull on him quicker, they've got less HP (225) and they weigh about the same as a TL (3400lbs or so).

Don't know anything about the jeep, though.

They're close to 300lbs lighter than TL 5AT. High 3200's vs. mid/high 3500's for a 5AT. And BMW is known to under rate their engines, plus the 330 has a stronger torque/weight ratio. If it's a stick, the slight whp defecit will be offset by the 330's lighter weight. I think it'll be a close race, stock to stock.

So is it a stick or auto???

Unless the bimmer is the ZHP with the close ration 6 speed manual, I believe the rest of them come with a 5MT. In any case, you should be able to beat both. I've raced a couple 330's and never had a problem with any of them.

The BMW is a 6spd, bone stock.

My Acura is a 5AT.

I was just wondering, my friend with the Commander hemi was talking more smack.

Curious minds were just inquiring!

Tell him he drives a POS Mopar and isn't worthy of your competition.

I think you're over-rating those BMWs they aren't very fast especially the 5spds auto and manual.

However I will say that they do launch much better than the TL 5A/T so you could lose there.

I've seen several at the track run very high 14's stock. I've never seen a TL there, but most 3 Gen 5AT's on here seem to run high 14/low 15.

I did see an '06 330 running consistent 14.40's, but those have the stronger motor. The 328 and 325's are dogs, but I wouldn't sleep on the 330.

Ok, here's a few stats on the Commander. It's gonna take more than a Hemi to get this 5200lb brick wall to beat any TL. Even a 2 Gen base model could give it a run. This thing would just look funny going down the dragstrip.

Your TL will beat the commander. Put your friend in his place.

The bimmer will be a very close race. I think he might edge you out(especially from a dig)since he has a manual tranny. You should try from a dig and a roll.

The Commander is a joke. Have your friend look up the stats on both your cars.. he's a moron if he still wants to race. My X could smoke him no problem, the TL is several classes ahead.

The 6 M/T 330ci.. idk.. the gear ratio and power curve on that baby is much better than the 3G TL A/T. The 3G may have an advantage on a 20 mph roll but from a stop / dig as you guys say.. You'll be playing catch up.

A 328i coupe.. won't match.. I rolled with my buddies '08 328 and it didn't open up very well. Although I was checking out his door handle / puddle lights.

You don't have to reinvent the wheel. The stats on these cars are public.. search performance / specs [insert car make / model] then insert car mag or source (ie. edmunds, car & driver). Google Search.. and above all.. it depends on the driver and to some extent the environment, tires. I suggest whatever you do, keep it off the street. Your buddy in his commander will kill someone racing that brick.
