05 or 06

Hello TL members. I'm new to the forum but I am a Honda and Acura lover. I'm debating what to get the 05 or the 06 TL auto (navi)(black on black). But I have a couple of questions in mind and I'm hoping to get answers. If I get the 05 TL, will the carbon fiber interior pieces from the 06 fit? The only thing that the 06 have that the 05 don't have is the TPMS, right?

True on the TPMS, and the Carbon Fiber Add on's inside will fit, its the same interior as 05'

there are few things you have going for you if you get an 06 TL....if these changes are worth a few thousand dollars, then you should get an 06:

- TPMS
- The IPOD Integration, which we dono't even know if you can apply it to 05 and 04 TL's so that one is sitting on the fence.
- The Quality issue where most of the bugs should be worked out with the 06's still going to be a few, but it will get better.
- Possible addition of more Navigation features such as more voice navigation features. and possibly a faster HFL which is glitchy at times.

so if these things are worth a couple thousand dollars to you...then i say go for it. but as u should know, you could probably get a better TPMS system for around 300 installed.

its not a fact that the HFL will be faster...but i figure because they will be newer parts and possibly refined systems that it will be faster than my 04 HFL. as for the navigation, the TSX's upgrades consist of i think around 300+ more voice commands as well as talk and type. along with the Zagats Directory that theh TSX already had. so these are all possibilities

We're sitting on the same fence. I'm looking at getting the black/black 5AT as well

The other thing I wanted to add that was kind of good for me is the 6/70,000mi drivetrain warranty.

Rumor has it the '06 is $225-300 more on invoice.

Thank you for all the people that left a response. So the warranty is extended on the 06 drivetrain?

I used to have a Black on Black car. Have fun cooking in the summer! :-)

Looks fantastic, but waaaay to hot.

Last car was Black with tan interior w/dark tint. I think the tint made a big difference with keeping the interior cooler.

This go around I'm white/tan. Notably cooler than black/tan.

Go For the 2005

This is a terrific time of the year to buy a car. You can save a great deal of money and there are no significant changes in the 2006 model. Go for the '05

Did the 2006 TL change its appearance or it looks the same as the 2005? The only thing that changed is the technology and warranty right?

I have a black/black car right now. Last summer I had access to an infrared thermometer and we checked all the cars in the lot. I had Limo tint on all windows but the front windshield, the outside temperature was 112 degrees. Inside my car it was 164 but i was also parked in partial shade.

Other cars in the full sun were reading up to 190 when we first opened up the doors then they would cool down to 140 range after airing out. I was also spot checking surface temps and the hottest reading I got was on the trunk of a green car at about 220 degrees. Maybe he was carrying around some uranium ?

From what I noticed from our testing is when its really damn hot outside, you'll never notice the difference with what color car interior you have. If you can tell the difference between 180 and 185 degrees you should swear by lighter color interiors.

My suggestion if you can in your state is get window tint and a sunscreen for the windshield. That is going to be way more effective than having interior color bias

Tire pressure monitoring and a sort of useless steering control assist that is supposed to reduce torque steer.
