Are there any other 2005 Recalls?

Just curious, since this is the first one I've heard about.

Your post implies there are others.

Thanks,

Thanks guys. Just wondering - I have electronic items (such as V1, laser jammer, and fm modulator hooked up to the fuse box) - should I disconnect these before going to dealer for fusebox replacement?

I would...

Be one less thing for them to screw-up.
--They probably wouldn't hook it back up for you anyway due to it not being factory installed. Liability issues etc. for the items involved... I know that was the rule of thumb at the dealership I worked at. Just tuck the wires back completely out of the way.

Smart thinking on your part

Definitely! If they don't screw your stuff up, they still may put "notes" in your file which could be used against you in future waranty work. Trust me, it's been done.

Ppl may be confused with the "characteristic" hard-start sometimes. Based on the past experiences, I guess Acura won't apply this fix to other 3GTLs at this point, either.

Center punch the VIN plate?!

Talk about cheap indicator, why not just a sticker on the fuse box or putting it in their central service database (which every dealer accesses)

I live in Ontario/Canada and called my dealer. He said that this bulletin has nothing to do with Canadian TLs. He couldn't find any recall attached to my VIN number (got my TL in Dec. 2004).

Thank you for adding to the conversation. I know we were all worried that your car may be affected.

On the other hand. My car is in the VIN range indicated. I looked at Acura Owner Link and it says my car does not have any recalls. It's possible that even though mine is in the range, it is not affected (my VIN is very near the end of the recall range). I'll update if I get the recall leter.

Has anyone else with a car in this VIN range checked Owner Link to see if the recall is shown there?

You people might want to look more closely at the date of this TSB - 4/1/2005? Just out of curiosity, has anyone with an 05TL called their dealer inquiring about this TSB?

Good one Randy....almost believed it till I saw the date. LOL

I did indeed call Acura and the service guy was aware of the problem... This was before I saw the VIN numbers on the TSB, and he confirmed my car was not part of the recall...

FYI, TSB 04-020 (04 Auto 2nd gear inspection) came out two weeks after the press revealed the issue. And, dealers didn't apply that TSBs to any owners until 1~2 weeks after 'cause of the short supply and they tried to fix all the stock cars first.

Could anyone check thier owner link and make sure this? Thanx.

Randy,

Are you able to provide us with any and all of the other TSBs affecting 3rd gen TLs? It always helps to have a repository of the TSBs in case we're up against a dealer who is simply unwilling to assist.

Hook it up! We only have a few available to us and would love to see all of the other ones.

Maybe you can get us the TSB PDFs and someone can host them in all their glory.

Even if your vehicle is in the VIN range, chances are it's not affected ... note in the letter to service managers it says less that an average of less than one vehicle per dealership was affected ... so what's that, a few hundred cars ... that sure isn't many!
