04 tl vs 330i zhp vs e90 330i

So... me and my friends had some time to kill tonight and we decided to go over to the local warehouse and do some runs. I drive the 04 TL, its auto and I thought I would smoke them but NOOO was I wrong =[.

First run I honked 3 times to start it off and my friend in the 04 ZHP ( 6 speed ) blasted off about 3 cars ahead but I was pretty even with the 06 330i until about 80 when he started pulling away.

Second run it was only me and the ZHP, from a roll 40 to 100 and i got the lead by downshifting to 2nd but by 80 mph I got left in the dust again =[

Im sad

=[ =[ =[ =[

You are aware that something like that should be videotaped.

The E90 330i 3.0L has 255hp....but after driving it, it felt like it had stronger power delivery than my 255hp 02 Maxima.

The E90 325i 3.0L has 215hp now.

You had to do something completely wrong because the TL kills the 330 by atleast 3 car lengths..I've seen it a gazillion times..Are you sure they weren't modded?

No.. like I said I kept up to them fairly well, it was just that the SS mode in my TL doesn't shift as well as manuals... both of them were manual and I couldn't get a good launch with my car. None of them them were modded and for sure the ZHP is faster off the line 0-60 in 5.6 as listed by C&D, and the E90 around 5.9.

I ran an E90 330 auto with 8,000 miles on it (my brothers) and I got the jump (ahead by 3/4 car) but I could not pull from him nor could he gain up to 80....

For real, . But the E90 330i 5AT I drove felt at least as quick at the Atlima SE-R 5AT I drove and that also felt quicker than my 02 Maxima. Again, this is strictly SOTP.

Stock vs stock, I'd put my money on the 330i. 6MT vs 6MT, it's a driver's race.

The reason why E90 330i auto is faster then TL automatic (stock) is because of tranny. Power-wise they are the same (255 bhp) however while TL gets around 200 hp at wheels E90 gets approx 230 hp. Plus don't forget that E 90 is 6 speed automatic whereas TL is 5 speed and the gearing is different.

While no doubt the E90's gears are more agressive and efficient, I doubt that there's only 10% drivetrain loss with the Steptronic (as the '230whp' claim would indicate).

The tranny losses, according to my dealer, are around 15%.

10-12% of manual tranny, but auto should be more and 15% seems too optimistic coz the torque converter sucks up the power a lot

They say that the torque converters for E90 and E60 have been re-designed and power losses are reduced to the point where the auto tranny has almost the same efficiency as manual one. I tend to believe this because if you take a look at the numbers (330i manual vs automatic) the difference is rather slim.

This is new 330i, right? Hmmmm so if I hit my gas pedal 0.3 seconds quicker than the other driver, considering best 3G AT time is 6.2 seconds, I will be neck to neck?
