'04 TL vs. '05 TL

'04 TL vs. '05 TL
The '04 has 134,403 miles in it.
The '05 has 94,050 miles on it.
'04 = $10,988
'05 = $13,999 (also is installed with navi)
The '05 would be purchased from a Honda dealer.
The '04 would be purchased from a reputable dealer.
What are the pros and cons of each, if I may ask?
Like are the trannys going to blow as soon as I get one?
I currently have a '01 3.2 CL type s, which I've had for 3 years now, two days after I bought it the tranny went. The mileage was around 164,00 when it went and now its at 210,000, with very little problems that are being taken care of.

I would personally go for the 2005, it has lower miles per year average and it has a navi. Now what you also want to find out is has any of them been in an accident. And the 2005 has the timing belt maintenance coming up soon. So look at all the details of each car and make your own decision.

I bought my '05 with 110,000 for $11.2. It has navi and the timing belt was done. I'd go with the '05 and try to get the price down to at least 12. You're gonna pay anywhere from 300 to 1200 for the timing belt in the next year or so depending on whether you do it yourself or pay a dealer. Check the carfax for both, but even if there was an accident, they are usually repaired right these days. If there was an accident, don't let that scare you off unless it was really major and you can see left over damage.... Good luck.

both good cars but the navi is the part that would sell me.. i dont have one, I did in my old car and I miss it.. looking to upgrade my interior to put something in to handle navi.. its a luxury but it will surprise you how fun it is to have
never know how much you miss something until it is gone

I'd go for 05 as well. Navi goes a long way even if you would use it a few times a year it's a great tech to have especially if you add the navi hacks the 04-06 models can do like instant mpg for one. btw arte there any ads showing pix of the 2 cars?

There were problems with the '04 AT. The very early ones needed an external fluid line kit. The case was modified, and modified again for the '05s and later. That version has lasted, I've put 150k on mine with no problems. I'd go for the '05.

I thought the interface changed in 07 with all the other updates like Dolby II, WMA/MP3, aux jack and A/C digits update? The graphics were definitely updated too. My Ma had an 06 and it had none of the updates that my 08 had.

Just bought an '04 with Navi AT with 118k miles. Timing belt, timing tensioners, and water pump were replaced at Acura dealership at 110k miles. Single owner no accidents... Paid $11,000. Owner also claims that the AT was serviced at Acura dealership at 80k miles. I'm going to pick it up Saturday, hope I don't run in to these trans issues that I keep reading about.

check the timing belt for cracks to figure out how "new" it is....
replace the air filter ($15) and cabin air filter ($15)
replace oil and oil filter ($35)
do a PS flush ($20)
do a coolant flush ($20)
bleed your brakes ($7)
do a tranny flush with redline fluid ($120)
check brake pads + rotors
replace 3rd and 4th gear switches ($80)
spend this ~$320 and you will come back and say "ohhh i feel like its a new car am driving"

yes the full interface changed in 07....I have an 05 and helped a friend last year to get an 06....while test driving with her, i noticed that the screen had a bluish hue to it....and the digits and stuff lit up blue....i was like "aftermarket?" but the dealer told me 06's came that way....
I hope you dont....honestly i dont believe in all that (what service was done and stuff like that)....

You may also want to pull the front plugs and see if they were replaced at 110K.

I will be sure to check those things as you suggest. I have to pick the car up Saturday from Dallas and then drive it home to Baton Rouge. The owner said that the PS, coolant, and brakes have all been flushed and filled recently and he also claims that he will provide all the service records to prove that the work has been completed at the Acura dealership. I have been reading the thread about the 3rd and 4th pressure sensors and I will definately be changing those. I have a two post lift in my shop in my backyard so it shouldn't be too difficult.

^^^^ haha.. Yeah, all of my friends like to come and use it. We originally bought it because we were racing dirt late models but the race car is gone now and the lift rarely gets used. The race car was replaced by a 2011 Shelby GT500 so the lift is starting to see a little more action now.
