04 TL DYNO - Pictures & Videos
It was about time to dyno my altima... so while I was at it, I took the new TL over there too... I was satisfied with the Altima and disappointed by the TL... But the guy said it's because i'm still in break-in period (is this true?) ... I have little less than 1000 miles on my TL... so I'll dyno it again at about 5000 miles to see what happens.
I'll leave the links to the videos for a day or LESS and then I'll have to take them off, because the server i'm using is very slow and i shouldn't even be using it to begin with so please, if someone can host these clips for me would be great.
gotta love that flat constant horsepower on the alty
- Alty dyno video clip (~7.4 MB)
- TL dyno video clip (~9.3 MB)

Very interesting. I've seen 5AT TL dyno at around 210 hp. A couple of questions for you:
1. What kind of dyno did you run on?
2. Was the Altima's figures also lower than other AT Altimas were running at?
3. What are the size of the aftermarket Konigs on your TL?
Thanks for posting this information.

A2- The Altima was about what I expected... I only have Exhaust, Intake and Mid-pipe, which are giving me about 20hp at the flywheel, (which sounds right, because 2002 altimas came with only 240hp)... I thought I'd have about 205hp at the wheels and the torque was what I expected, so it was almost like what expected.
A3- they are 19x8" and each wheel without tires weight 25 pounds... I donno how much with tire, but I think they were about 5lb heavier each.

I will dyno both cars with stock wheels in about 3 or 4 months.

For a 270 Hp Acura, AT losses should be between 54 and 68 hp giving dyno results for the AT between 202 and 216 HP.
For manual, 15% loss would give 229 HP on the dyno.

The VQ sucks gas like there's no tomorrow.

the much bigger wheels definitely make a huge difference. rolling mass is much greater. the TL really needs to get broken in some more. vtec.net dyno'd the TL at about 227, if my memory is still good. someone in this forum had a dyno of his TL at 233 with a CAI.

As a friend said,"You can dyno your car and drive around the corner to get a burrito, come back and do it again and get +30 hp or -30 hp." What difference does it make?

the average 5AT dyno was 210HP that ive seen and it takes up to 5k to break-in but i've heard 10k to fully break-in(thats what i've heard) but i probably wrong about the 10k.

Cool thread. Thanks for posting the pics and clips.
You really can't compare dyno readings from different runs with different conditions on different machines from different companies. This dyno was a Dyno Dynamics and many of the numbers being discussed were from Dynojets. Dynojet readings seem to be fairly consistent machine to machine, but there can be a big difference between them and dynos from other manufacturers. That doesn't mean any of them are right or wrong. There are a lot of articles about this...

Enforcer, my TL got much stronger as time went on, and at 16K miles it feels pretty strong. It's not as strong as my Alti was, at least torque-wise, but feels good for an auto. Have it dyno'd after a couple thousand miles.

You're not wrong. My car definitely felt stronger at 10K than it did at 4K.
