'04 TL Battery Life - Anyone replaced yet?
#41
I have a '05 with just over 50k miles and while the car was in for service, they stated the the battery was only putting out xx power when it should be xx (not sure what the numbers where) and they replaced it under warranty.
I didn't notice anything wrong with the battery so it was a nice surprise. Even more so because I thought my warranty was done but they said something about it being extended by a few hundred miles!

The battery in my 04 failed in the first year. Acura had it towed in and an Acura dealer replaced the battery. I just came out of a store I had been in for about 20 minutes and the car would not crank-- completly dead.

My battery died 1 month after i bought my 07 TLS, i then used a portable booster battery in my trunk for emergencies and kept charging the stock battery overnite for the next 6 months.....needless to say i got embarrassed and fed up and went to costco and bought the yellow top optima on Sunday.
The "I KNOW EVERYTHING, but can't do anything under warranty" dealer service/parts was closed and i gave up on them cos they wanted to charge me to do a battery test and this and that....F#@$ them! Canadian Acura dealers = A-hole's who screw you in the A$$ and then do it again in your mouth! Worst thing is that i bought my car there too....and they promised me the best service and this and that...what a lie! Sorry to rant ...
So just to let you guy's know, the yellow top optima 34/78 at costco fits perfectly into the 2007 TLS, It seems to be the same weight or lighter. The TLS feels smoother overall because i think with the dead battery, the alternator was always having to put out alot of power to run the car accessories and that may have burdened the engine with additional load.
Now that the optima is in, the engine idles abit lower and smoother. I charge my optima via a battery charger overnite so that it is full the next day, the theory is this reduces the need for the alternator to go on and prolongs the life of the battery by keeping it topped up.
It is a easy DIY's job, just make sure you take the 34/78 adapter that comes with the optima when you buy, you also have to make some minor adjustments to the positive cable and cut the battery hold down bracket to accomadate the non-flat top of the optima.
Sorry for the long post...

the battery in my 92 sable LS was 8 years old when the car was totalled
the battery in my 94 accord was replaced in 2000 due to a crack in the casing, the replacement is still running strong after 8+ years
the battery in my 98 accord was original when I sold it in 2006
my current car a 2002 CL type S is on it's second battery.......

43k miles on my 2006. The dealer tested it = it failed. They swapped it out. I was going to get the optima also. They didn't even tell me. I found the slip. That’s how I found out. My car was in for the paint sealant reapplication. The dealer, just changed it? What do you think of that?

same one
I have the original battery in my TL with 82,000 miles on it. Brought it in to Acura for the recalls and it tested bad according to them. I kept it through as I've never had a problem with it. They told me my cold cranking amps were under the minimum requirements.

I just had to replace mine on my 04 with 40k miles. It's starting to get quite hot out and if the car was sitting for a while it would turn over pretty slow, sometimes not at all.
New battery is in and it's good to go.

My battery was replaced from the dealer free of charge after not even having it for a year (06) That battery only lasted me about another 10-11 months or so and that one went bad??.....So I brought a high end battery from Autozone and that lasted going on 2yrs.But now it's acting up on me,so I think something is pulling the juice out of these cars??
Mind you I only have one high powered amp and my radar??.......I've been told that this Florida sun is notorious for draining batteries, but my car is hardly driven during the day and it's garage kept??

my battery just died after almost 4 years and only 31k. all the dealership could offer me was 25% off of a new battery. boooo. i know battery warranties are measured by months and not mileage, but i still feel that they couldve done better than 25%.
