04 leather butt prints

I called Nalley Acura in Atlanta and asked if they would cover the butt prints in the leather of my 04 TL under warranty. No questions, no argument, they said bring it in and we will recover all the seats with new leather. Awesome customer service. They went on to say that, "You spent 35K on a car, so you deserve great service." I can't say enough about this dealership. Hope the rest of the Acura dealerships stand behind their product this way.

Congratulations. Great to hear. I hope I get the same response when I take my car in for the next service. I'm going to hit them with 3-4 rattles to fix and the leather issue. I wish they'd do something about the crappy tires but I tried last time I was in. No dice.

Be carefull and watch how they do the work. Good dealer or not, several people on this forum have had the leather replaced, only to end up with scratches and poor fitting leather after the work was finished. Sometimes the solution is worse than the problem. Unless they're willing to swap the '04 style seatcover with the '05, I'd pass, because the problem is going to return anyway..it's not the leather, it's the design causing buttprints.

Hmmmm....

Well, considering the other thread on the board that has a picture showing "butt prints" in the leather seat of a $440K+ Porsche, I know I'm not going to worry about the "problem" (if it really is that), but to each their own.

I hope it works out - at my dealer I saw the replacement covers and was not impressed. Also, at the time it was the same leather as originally in car - so as someone posted, the problem may return since nothing has actually changed. As long as they are not ripped, then I no longer care about butt print issue - when I am driving it - my butt is in the seat - problem solved - can't see a thing! When I am not driving I am not staring in through my window looking at the seat. I wish we did not have this issue - but I still LOVE this leather compared to any other car I have owned.

But I am a born fanatic about stuff - so I can appreciate your wanting to get it fixed...good luck - sounds like a great dealership - didn't know they still existed.

Thanks for the input guy. I will take your advice, and ask how they are going to fix it. If they will give me the 05 seats, I'll do it. If they are gonna out the same leather type back on, I'll pass. I'll let you know what happens, and again, thanks for the input!

Unless they redesign the covers, why bother to have it replaced? You run the risk of damage to the seat frame and exterior surfaces, wind yourself into a frenzy, and then will complain that it has not "fixed" the alleged "problem". I think it is setting oneself up for a fall.

What am I supposed to say to my dealer? I feel like an asshole because I am a bit heavy, so they could always use that against me. I also don't feel right saying "butt prints." Is it a known issue?

If "butt prints" is problematic, try "gluteal depression".

Gale....check out Novice's experience with the buttprint issue and mabe you'll decide like myself that the problem isn't worth the possible damage and other issues that might happen after having the dealer swap seatcovers. I was going to have mine replaced, but decided against it unless they're willing to use the '05 covers. The whole problem is going to return if they use the '04 style covers, so why bother risk possible damage and poor fitting covers only to have the problem return in a few months. Good luck if you do go ahead..and please post pictures after they swap covers so we can see how they "fit"

They guys names who helped me are Chuck Rouse who is a salesman there, but tends to go adove and beyond to help customers, and Ed Wilkie who is the head of the service department. My name is Joe Grise, and if you tell them I sent you there for the same problem I had, they will definitely take care of you. Hope this helps.
