hey guys...my brother just came home with a 04 Accord coupe V6 6MT blue on black with navi...he got it off the lot for 24000, thats 2000 less than invoice, i picked my 04 SSM/ebony 5AT non-navi up in sept for 31K...im kinda having some regrets..the accord looks pretty hot n it was 7 grand less...should i feel bad at all??? what do u guys think??? would he out perform me with the acception of the Navi?????

accords are underrated.... plus auto tl is 210 to whp (somwhere around there) and i dont know the #'s on 6mt accord coupe.

The manual transmission lets it put down more power to the wheels.

The accord is underrated. They say the Accord manual is the same as the TL manual. Same thing with the auto. They only say its 240hp becasue its 7g's less than the TL, but over all its the same set up.

 

I wouldn't be worried at all if i were you. In my opinion you most probably bought the car for its engine which makes it a joy to drive, and its unbelievable exterior/interior looks. I don't think it matters that the accord could beat you in a race, all that matters is that if your brother had the money to buy the TL, most likely he would have.

Well the Accord really does about 255 hp with premium gas.

An automatic TL with 270 hp verses a 6MT Accord with 255ish and lighter weight...

 

Don't worry about it, kid. Now, if you get smoked by a Kia, then that would give you something to worry about. Life goes on.

 

Yeah. If you want to beat your bro, get him to race you in some twisties. the tl is better suited in such roads than the accord.

Your brother is going to have to be a good driver to beat you. Wait till you break in your 04 TL.....you may be able to beat him on many runs. And regardless.....look how much more beautiful and classy the TL is compared to the accord.

 

I own a auto TL, and have driven an accord v6 auto about 20 times. I have to say it seems like the accord is easily as fast. In fact I would have to say the accord seems faster off the line. Not sure if it the weight difference or if it just has better low end torque. If the accord took turns like the TL, I would have bought one instead.

 

Your car will still look better

 

It certainly wouldn't take much to make the accord handle like the TL. Maybe the HFP suspension from the dealer and a TL rear sway bar. Theres not too much of a doubt that the accord is the better value, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who still buy the TL knowing this because of the better exterior looks, interior, warranty, four door configuration available with 6-spd, brand image...

 

Also don't feel too bad, because you will regain a good portion of the extra money you spent when you resell. Definitely don't get any crazy ideas like trading for an accord, unless you are hard up for cash.

 

The only regret I would have is financial in nature: that he got a loaded 6MT Accord for about $10k less than a 'comparably' equipped TL. Outside of that, the TL is an overall better car. Performancewise, the 6MT Accord should walk an auto TL pretty easily. (A couple on V6performance.net have run in the 14.2-14.3 range.)

tlram, like Jirzlee posted: It wouldnt take too much to make the Accord handle like the TL. With the $10k saved by going with the AV6, there's plenty of extra cash for some serious mods.

 

Personally, I still like the TL more than the Accord coupe, but if the Accord had xenon headlights, I'd be taking a hard look at the Accord!

One thing that has not been mentioned is that fact that you have 2 extra doors and room to fit 4 comfortably!

This is not something the Accord will do!

 

I wouldn't feel bad at all, and I'd still by TL over an Accord.
I'm not in anyway saying anything bad about Accord, I always like the Accord. It is and has been a High Value, High Mileage, Highly Reliable, and Great riding car!

But, with that said, the Accord is No TL !!
Accord doesn't have "The Look" the Superior Exterior smooth lines that the TL has.
The TL is going fast just looking at it Parked!!!!
- The Dash Board isn't as nearly as impressive!
- Ok, it has a Good Honda Motor (Honda makes Great Motors!), but it doesn't have the Suspension/Wheels and Brakes to back it up!

You made the right Choice!!!!

Couple seem to have more than the Sedan!!, but it still not a TL!!
I do like the key, with the FOB built in! - Can we get that for our TL's!!

 

I looked at accords as well (having owned a couple)

the TL has the luxury feel, smell, sound, and looks that the plain jane acord does not.

The TL has features and quality build that Honda does not, its quietier inside...the stereo is better and it just plain looks better.

 

One question to ask yourself; Do you need a 2 door or 4 door?

It's unfortunate the Accord 4Dr Sedan is not available with 6MT and a V6. You can get a manual trans and voice controlled Navagation, but you'll have to settle for the 4 cyl. Then again, look at the difference in gas. The V6 hybrid version loaded is $32K, 255HP, and is rated 29 City, 37 Hwy.

As for the Navi, welcome yourself to the club of those here who felt it wasn't worth the extra $$$ and are now and/or have been hitting themselves in the head ever since. Why do you think most of the '04/5 TL's for sale on eBay are Non-Nav? In many of those auctions, the sellers seem reluctant to show pics of that part of the dash clearly. The Navigation system is the heart of the 3rd Gen TL.

ok well here's how it is..i was lookin for something sporty, but i jus loved the TL. i dont need the extra two doors...but to me this is the best lookin 4 door sport sedan out...i dont regret it anymore...my car is jus sexier..plus i have Bi-xenons he dont...my car has a sick stance, stock....his is too high.

 

I raced a 04 Accord with Intake and Comptech exhuast. Started off late and still smoke him. He look at the TL like it was nuttin; Pretty pissed off when I wave as I passed by I love our Torque!

Who cares how fast either are. both are fast ENOUGH. They are two different styles, coupe and sedan, if you wanted a sedan, I would've taken a TL over an Accord Sedan. If you wanted a coupe, I would've taken a G35C 6 speed over an Accord Coupe.

 

Good point. However, I can guarantee that you cant get a new G35C for the $24G that 04AcuraTL's brother paid for his AV6.

 

Oh, of course, you're lookin at more along the lines of the TL price. If you're looking for a coupe under 27k, the Accord is definitely the way to go

 

i meant that an accord does not have the same luxury that the tl has, leather, and queitness and sports suspension, etc...
