04-07 CF Engine covers...

So I'm trying this again (mods-before deleting please check with astro, I have the ok from him)...

I have the ok to provide the forums 30 CF engine covers available now for MY04-07.

Here was my original thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172339

More information on the CF engine cover can be found here:
http://mikec70.googlepages.com/acura...8cfenginecover

I created that website so it's easier for me to update the page (can't do it on this site).

Fire away with questions...

Thanks.

Mike

Unfortunately, it doesn't sorry. I was pissed too when I opened up the hood to find out it was a completely different cover. I can certainly make one for the type S but I would need paid deposits. I went on a limb with this cover and so far no one has bought anything eventhough the other thread showed a lot of interest in them.

If I am not mistaken, I think stillhere 153 said that he put a 04-06 TL engine cover on a Type S

However, you have to change the metal bracket that the engine cover connects to.

So there for, the 07-08 owners (Base and Type S) we could switch to the carbon fiber engine cover but we would have to fabricate a 3.5 Vtec plate or sill that fits the top portion.

The base 07-08 owners could just use the 04-06 plate.

That said,
The 04-06's have a more decorative manifold top with the "3.2 ACURA" inscribed on the top... If you retrofit the 04-06 cover onto your type-s, your manifold is gonna be gross looking...
It'll look like this:

You'd need to replace that too.

I have a custom black painted 04-06 manifold cover, just like this one if anyone needs it $100... PM me

If I did't a mirror polished manifold, I'd be all over these BTW.

The S and non S model should be the same cover, so yes, price will be the same. PM me if you have any questions.

I'll double check again with my dealer regarding S, non S and MY fitment again. It looks like Acura has a few covers for all their models. Sorry guys, tough for me to figure this out without actually owning a 3G TL.

About 4 weeks or so (that is to your door) as these are made to order. Depending on the schedule of the shop, it might be a day or two until they get to the cover.

Just so you guys know the fitment is verified by me... Which means it fits 100%

Once you purchase mike h's cover with the proper bracket you will be good to go

Also for some of you who would consider it, see if you find a local shop to powdercoat the metalic non branded 07-08 valve cover to a color of your choice, it would be a very good addition to the tl's engine bay

Kind of sad by the fact you haven't received as much interest as firstly perceived... I vote for doing a carbon fiber radiator plate

Thanks for the verification.

I can do a CF radiator plate. But I would like to get enough pre-paid interest for that one (learning from this experience).

Type-S

So Mike, can you make the Type-S cover as shown as the pic above? If so, what kind of fitment do I need, ie brackets.etc. Would be interest in the Type-S version if it fits perfectly.

I'm only selling the cover as shown in my first post. Stillhere153 made that cover fit on a Type S. You'd have to ask him (or he oculd kindly post here ) what is required for it.

For 07-08 Base & Type S, you will require switching the engine cover from a 2 boltup to the 3 boltup

Assembly: 17147-RDA-A00
List Price: $8

Very easy retrofit, involves removal and reinstall of 2 bolts

At this point no, sorry. I didn't do due diligence in my research for the covers. Hoping to recover my costs first.

P.S. Thanks to those that have ordered!

Ah ok. Thanks. Unfortunately only regular CF color. Variations will drive up the costs tremendously (and everything is going up these days).

Put me down for a CF Radiator Plate. Let me know what the pre-paid amount will be.

Well, it seems like there is quite a bit of interest for the Type S covers. I asked my friend and he said that he would need a PAID order of 10 to get the ball rolling. Price will most likely be the same as the cover is just about identical in size and material. Just to be clear, we are talking about this cover right?

What say you?

I'll double check with astro to see if I can keep it in this thread.

Thanks Mike got my CF cover today

Easy install when your engine is warm. The foam just peels off and sticks back on the CF cover.
