04-06 Air Filter?
04-06 Air Filter?
Hi, just wondering if the 3rd gen TLs have an air filter?
I already changed the cabin filter in the glove compartment.
I looked all over the manual to see if there is an engine air filter, but I couldn't find anything.
If anyone has any pics of the actual air filter location, that would be great.
Thanks in advance.

You seriously changed the cabin air filter and cant even find the engine airfilter? WOW! Here's a clue its on the left front right behind the battery. 4 screws and that's it. Should take all of 5 minutes to change. Good luck. The cabin air filter is way more difficult than the engine air filter.

At least some of them anyway.

Hey... Cut the OP a break.
It is not mentioned in the owner's manual because Acura wants you to bring it to the shop and pay money to get it changed.
I personally feel there is no such thing as a dumb question, and people shouldn't be dumped on for just asking. I think the fault lies with the Acura philosophy on documentation...

Still one has to wonder why an owner can't locate an intake manifold then just follow it as it leads away from the engine to the throttle body, the coupling, and finally the air filter box. Yes I know, most people who buy a car are not that interested in, or knowledgeable of, the mechanics (even simple ones) of their car.
I think what surprise me the most with this question is that someone would think that a street machine may not have an engine air filter. Not picking on the guy, but perhaps the wording of the question could have been different.

Don't worry Jinro.. we're not picking on you. You have every right to expect an honest answer to your question, being a member of this site. I would offer this to you when you do change your engine air filter. I can't speak for years '06, '07, and '08, but I certainly can for the '04s and '05s because I have one of each.
Before you loosen the four hold-down screws, separate the plastic electrical conduit from the small tabs at the rear (engine side) of the housing. There are little tit-like tips that insert into holes in these tabs, Just work the conduit free from the housing. Otherwise, you will not be able to raise the housing top up enough to remove and replace the filter. If you use a factory OEM filter, it is a two-part oil-wetted unit. Install it with the oiled side (greenish blue) down and the white side up. If you want to go after market to cut the cost, Purelator makes a good one (#A25585 for the two years I have). You should change both the engine and the cabin air filters once a year, or about every 15,000 miles, depending upon the environment in which you operate your car.

this goes for you too, if you dont have anything constructive to post then dont
The new Focus does not have a removable air filter. Some automatics aren't equipped with a transmission dipstick anymore. As elementary as the question may be I wasn't too surprised it was asked.
BTW, when you loosen the four screws for the air filter cover, lift up the cover than push back towards the passenger side to allow the cover to clear the filter so you can remove and install it. Good luck.

All I have to say is...wow.
I'm very speechless at some of the comments posted here.
To clear some things up, I'm not a really a "hands-on" kind of person with my car.
I usually leave all my work to the dealership, be it a simple air filter or tranny replacement.
The cabin filter that was replaced in my car was done at the dealership a while ago with a hefty cost.
So, I know it's been some time and I have to change my air filter.
Again, I'd probably take it to the dealership and get it changed, but I'm not spending a whole day w/o pay to get this simple job done, so I thought I'd ask the forum for some helpful insight.

-Being 31 yrs of age, please have a bit more maturity when responding to a thread. All I wanted was some help, not your opinion on how "technically challenged" people on the web was.

-I know you leave a lot of positive insight on this forum. I'm very confused as to why you would insult my intelligence. I may not be car guru such as yourself, but don't use that as your only basis to judge my "IQ or maturity level".
Previously, I owned a Maxima and I posted many "stupid" questions on the Maxima forum. Maxima.org was very helpful and none of the members ever said anything insulting. If worst, they would say do a search on a forum.
To the rest who left such good tips, I was able to replace the filter with your instructions. Thanks for the all input and I really appreciate it.
I guess I'll think twice before I post anything on this forum now.
Don't want to upset some of you with my "stupid" questions.
Thanks...
