The 03 3.5L Altima SE with the 4AT is a high 14 second car stock. Its basically a drivers race with a TL-S like yours. Now a 5MT Altima SE is a low-mid 14 second car stock and is faster than your TL-S. I am not suprised by the outcome.
I beat a stock 02 Altima 3.5L SE 4AT in my accord when I had intake.

Was it the SE or the SE-R? SE-R will win stock vs stock
I have the same car as you and my advise is to get a CAI, UR pulley, and headers to help, then if you have money get a high flow cat, exhaust and 09 Intake Manifold.
My TL-S is fully bolted minus the 09 IM and I've beaten G35's and 350z's. But with all that work my car still isnt fast at all. Doubt Ill break 13's. If you want to go fast do a 6pd swap with a supercharger. Then you wont have any problems lol

Aside from handling characteristics and trim, there's really no substantial difference between the performance of the 3.5SE and the SE-R.

I remember back in the old days on here, when threads came up vs V6 Altimas etc....more times than not they would wonder how they lost to a 3.5 Alti in there TLS....we had more power. Then they realized that they have way more torque and were under rated in that dept.

Ya Nissan's are pretty fats cars. The 03 Altima SE came with 240 HP the 05 SER came with 260 HP. And a lot of toque.
I love taking my 03 Maxima and beating the heck out of 3Series BMW.s
TL's are just not made for speed if you ask me. They are for luxury and they look HOT. You have to modify the crap out of them to get any HP out of them.

4at or 5spd auto (it really made no difference in times), those 02-06 Altima SE's can be mid 14 sec cars as well. As at matter of fact alot of them are here at my local track stock and my old one in Cali. Stock for stock they tend to be a tad quicker than 03-07 AV6 auto's which stock here struggle to get into the 14's stock. When you beat that 02 was it burning it tires up at launch, which Nissan FWD 3.5 cars will do easily.
For the Accord V6's the 03-05 Accord V6's are faster than the 06-07 accord V6's. The 06-07's struggle to get into the high 14's (especially F23A4's! which was the slowest 7th gen auto on record!! had to throw that in there ) But the 03-05's seem to hit high 14's more often stock. With just intake a on a 03-05 Accord V6 auto I have seen a 14.48 at best to 14.79 with traps in the 96-97MPH range. The 02 3.5L didn't burn up the tires. He actually got a great launch and took me off the line where my front bumper was at his passenger door handle but when I hit 2nd gear I started to pull back and by about 85MPH I had a 1 full car gap in between us.

From my experience I have seen the 5AT get more consistant mid 14's with slightly higher trap speeds than the 4AT. I know that there has been some 14.6-14.7's with the 4AT but that doesn't seem to be as common for the 4AT as it does for the 5AT. That is just my experience though, I know you know what you are talking about when it comes to nissans.

But in its defense, it yielded some GREAT fuel economy which is where it has the Atli V6 beat thoroughly.

Sounds like he's just a superior driver. And I think the Altima 3.5 is a bit lighter than a 2nd-gen TL-S, depending on transmission. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
That being said, I really hope you're not racing on the streets. I like cheap insurance, and I'm sure you do too. This isn't helping.

yea, the VQ's are solid, in your case, perhaps now is the time to invest in CAI, perhaps Exhaust, and sharpen up on your shift points ( where exactly to be when you shift) GL
