03 AV6 5AT vs 07+Maxima SE CVT
Had a nice little run from a roll with a CVT Maxima SE the other day. I just started off casual from a stoplight next to the maxima and I think him hearing my exhaust got him going as that is what happens in most cases. People think I am getting on the car when I just start out normal. Anyway at around 30mph I hear him get on it so naturally I floor it myself, unfortunately I was in 2nd gear at 30MPH which isn't my best start(5AT)however I stayed next to him with no trouble until I hit VTEC at about 45MPH and started to slightly pull on him. Kept the pace through 3rd gear at around 95mph where I had a car and a half on him or so. I slow down for the upcoming stoplight way in the distance and my brother sees him shaking his head in disbelief as he lost the short jaunt. I don't think he expected to lose this one. Anyway the CVT is quicker than the 5AT from a roll as he did better than the 04 Maxi SE I raced quite a long time ago when I had less mods. I am sure if I had started in 1st gear I would have pulled harder but I am still happy with the outcome!![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
He was stock I believe.
I had a passenger, he had no one.

It does seem that Nissan CVTs are fairly well tuned for performance. Good kill.
