I've actually done it slightly quicker than that before...
In the TL I can't imagine a stock 5at being quicker than 6.5. It's just not a good 0-60 car. I'll time mine today. With the tires that are on it, traction is not a factor so it's pedal to the floor with the only variable being my timing accuracy which is a huge variable.

Is the TL-S much faster off the line than the base 2007 (both being 5AT)?
How about on a roll - say 40-70mph?
I haven't driven a TLS yet, but the base TL is a bit sluggish off the line compared to the mustang, but once rolling and in the select-shift mode, it seems to have quite a bit of mid-range pull - very similar to the mustang (stock for stock).

Okay, I'm not really answering your question here and I have no experience with the Type-S or with racing the TL either. I guess I just wanted to say that my experience with the 5AT base TL (2004) is that it feels slow off the line, but does very well in that 40-70mph range that you talked about. I'm curious why you asked about that range in particular?
I had a chance to drive an 07 TL-S 5AT today.
I'm definitely going to have to go with that model.
It's simply in another league from the base model.
More power and the shifts are much more aggressive.
I'd venture to say outside of taking off from a dig, it will outrun my mustang in most situations.
The only thing that concerns me is how heavy the steering is at slow speeds - much heavier than the base TL.
And those wheels...

I had the same TL as you and I was wondering that myself. Basically, it depends on the outside temperature. Your times will range between 6.6 - 7.0. The 6.6 would be for ideal conditions, 7.0 on a summer day. Anyone who says less for the stock automatic transmission TL is delusional.

My 5AT....... maybe not completely stock. But no supercharger, no turbo, and no nitrous.
0-60 = 4.7 Sec

Drifting
My last run using Dynolicious was 6.51 but that was a year ago. I'll try again when I change my ATF to Redline Type-f and see how things improve. There should be a slight improvement but we'll see how much. I'll be changing in a couple months when the car hits 40K miles.

I've tried to find articles on auto tl but came up empty. even 04-06 models always drove 6spd's. I guess i would want the best performing version too if i were a magazine editor but sometimes these folks need to drive the car the majority would own...lol.

Vigorously working on each day. I have the rough draft finished. I spent time taking some more pics today. Still need to do the final edit, add illustrations and pics, add pertinent links.
It is a big thread. I will need to post it in multiple post (back to back) because the entire content will not fit into a single post.
I estimate another week. It will be worth the wait.
Regarding it being dead around here lately - I feel the same way. We got hooked on the excitement from the turbo guys installing their kits. Now that has died down. The quitness is deafening.

With your combo I have a number floating in my head of what it should run but I don't want to jinx it by posting. The good thing is I know you will cover all bases and it will be the complete package, can't wait for the results.

On the contrary my friend. Debate is healthy. I will be including a section for this in the thread. Here is an excerpt below -
"Nitrous Versus Turbocharging And Supercharging"
I invite discussions which compares the advantages/disadvantages between nitrous and forced induction (turbocharging and supercharging). I do not think this would be off-topic to this thread. Each person has different desires and needs. I want Acurazine members to know their options and to pick the option that fits their needs the best.
