0-60 in 7.6!! HAHA (5AT)
So I was at Staples today getting some supplies when I noticed a book called, "Le Guide de L'auto". So I opened it up and turned to the TL page when I noticed a 0-60 time listed at 7.6 seconds!! They said they had the original Michelin tires so I don't think that's a major factor. I'm guessing they had VSA ON, the engine was not broken in and they kept it in automatic and not SS. Even at that though, how is it possible to get 7.6 seconds when it's supposed to be ~6.3?

Just cause some pro from C&D ran your car at 6.3 in optimal conditions doesnt mean youre going to stoplight race it at that same time. You probably are running high 6's if at that. Not trying to start anything but thats what it is.

7+ is definitely slow... technically C&D do their test on Auto in which the launch is around 2000 rpm.. (apply brake and step on gas)
but someone pulled a 5.9 on a 5AT doing that and standard launch (taking off VSA) is around 6.5 from my personal experience.

The auto TL is slow off the line. Especially when it's hot outside and it decides to get "sluggish" you might want to move that number up to 10 seconds or more before you reach 60mph. That's definitely something I don't miss about the TL.

hot weather is a bitch for sure. My car feels 8 second car in summer. I've done many good launches without brake torquing and also there are reports that brake torquing slowed car down.

Its one thing to not spin... you're right, grip is good! But VSA stops you from spinning forcing you to cease to accelerate. Which keeps your RPMs from going up, which keeps you from getting max hp's, which just isn't a good idea when you're trying to get good times.

Actually - VSA works by either cutting power to a wheels or applying BRAKING to a wheel (or both). WHen you are trying to "go fast" from point A to Point B, brakes and/or power decreases are not "effective" methods. VSA is designed to "keep a car on the road" and "improve handlding by reducing the WAY power is applied to the ground. In other words, when the car senses that the tires are breaking free of the ground (or are about to break free), the car thinks..."Even though the idiot in the driver's seat has his foot to the ground, i (the car's VSA system) thinks it would be better to only apply about 50% of that acceleration to the ground instead..." Now, does that sounds like something you WANT when trying to "go fast" from zero-to-60?

btw, on dry pavement, I never seen ABS kicking in VSA.
VSA is very obvious on snow. You will hear almost "clicking" like noise coming from front end when you are dead stop. Once you are moving, car seems to only control enigne.

I mean of course not because what you just got your license and you drive the car everyday right. Seriously when you own a car I'll listen to you. Until then keep dreaming and thinking that you know everything. Because you do. I mean you are a teenager right.

Ok...but VSA light never comes on when starting off. So how would switching it off benefit me?? Is it engaging without the flashing '!' ?
