SOHC = Single OverHead Cam, where a single camshaft per head engages both the intake and the exhaust valves. The cams are located at the top of each head instead of a single shaft between the cylinder banks, so there are no pushrods or rocker arms.
DOHC = Double OverHead Cam, employing separate camshafts per head, one for intake, one for exhaust.

Based on what I have read the TL with the summer tires will be
quicker. If you have the crappy all seasons on, the TL will be a little slower or tied. The stickier summer tires really help traction
and the initial launch.
This is all based on the 6MT.
I do think the 5AT with summer tires will be very close, to the point of be insignificant.
Get better tires if you buy the TL or go with with summer tire option.
