Theres a slight chance that it may be a member here, not likely though. I bet the TL wasnt even trying, especially on a road like that. Ive backed off from races mainly because of the safety factor. Its not worth the risk IMO..

I drove on wet curve road which was supposed to have limit of 40MPH, drove against RX-7 about 90MPH

RX-7 slowed down, my car kept on going (with VSA light coming on and off)

TL is good with tractions and the fact that G is RWD... yea

Yep...a CTS didn't like the fact I out maneuvered him the other week during rush hour...when he as able to get beside me, he gunned it in the right lane (and I in the left) as we approached the entry/exit ramps of I-77...I backed off just before the cluster up ahead (short exit ramp, short lane for on ramp, cars crossing 3 lanes from L to R and R to L, stop light just past all of this, etc)....he damn near reared one guy and almost hit someone else. I just shook my head...have your fun, but keep it safe.

With the car I drive right now I alway have idiots trying to run me in traffic, in school zones, everywhere. Not worth it IMHO and I'll keep the mindset when I get the TL. BTW - the guys in the G looks like idiots and the TL doesn't look like it's tryin' too hard - just my humble opinions lol!

somebody saw this a few days ago. somebody was like "whatever". somebody beat every G35 auto somebody's raced off the line or rolling. 6MT depends on the start and shifting of the day. and the shoes somebody wears. lol

Same deal here. I'm certain there are a couple of Civic EX drivers boasting that they smoked my Maxima (due mainly to my discretion).

Thumbs down

I hope those idiots were not racing! Did you guys see the school bus they passed. What a bunch of IDIOTS! About 3 months ago in our area ..some guys were racing and they rear ended a Honda CRV ..killing one high school Homecoming Queen and seriously burning her friend. These racers are being prosecuted. Moral of the story....RACING IS FOR THE RACETRACK!

no disrespect

Guys I post this with no disrespect.

You guys are giving the TL more credit than is reality.

I see a lot of these posts that say, "The TL would beat that if they were full throttle blah blah." Or many others like it. I'm not sure what cars you had before your TL purchase. But I'm gonna assume you have upgraded in performance vehicles.

My 04 6mt TL purchase was after:
99 E36 M3 (3.2L I-6 5mt 240hp/236 torque) = Faster than TL all day long. AWESOME CAR <--Miss it

03 G35 Coupe (3.5L 6mt brembo 280hp/270torque) = Faster than a C5 convertable vette. This car and my girlfriends 03 G35 sedan auto were very powerful/torquey cars. Her sedan was faster than my TL. I regret somedays of getting rid of my G35 cpe. There should be ZERO comparison in performance with the coupe EVER!!! Even more so now with the HP boost it received now 298hp. But I live in Cleveland, OH snow

These 2 cars had very similar feeling gear ratios, except for 6th which the M3 didn't have. You always seemed to be in a power band.

Now, I have done my share of blitzing down the highway during the occasional drive home at 2-4 AM. But never like this in the rain, heavy trafic etc.

Guys no disrespect, but I don't think some of you have any clue. You might be the same people that pulled up to my M3 or G35 in a civic and revs their motor like they wanna go or something.

Please anyone that came from a G35 6mt coupe PLEASE speak up.

Really? So you're matching my low 13's and 109 mph traps in my STOCK C5 vert? Doubt it. Shit give me a sticky track or non-run flats and I'll run 12's stock. Tell me how more power and less weight = a slower car. Dumb.

FYI that M3 was a mid 14 second car, the 6 speed TL is as well, and many have gone faster stock. This goes to show that you can trust your butt dyno.

However, the fact that you had the audacity to claim that your 03 g35 was "FASTER THAN A C5 CONVERTIBLE VETTE," shows that you have ZERO automotive credibility.

Im not sure if you noticed that the HP bump in the G has not been strongly substantiated in dyno tests AND Nissan isnt using the new HP tests.

I think I will have to video tape My TL against my friends G35 coupe this summer, and then maybe I should also ass rape him with my c5?

to you regarding the 'faster than C5...' comment. I can maybe see the viability of a G35C being on par with a non-ZR1 C4 but a respectably driven C5 should rip the G35C pretty easily.

Track times seem to indicated that the E36 M3 5MT is a 14.0-14.3 second car.

I think your're thinking of the 3.0L M3, from 95'. The 3.2L M3 was faster. In college, I had two room-mates with M3's, one was a 95, the other was a 98'. The 98' did the quarter in 14 flat stock, which the 95' couldn't do without mods.

Actually, they have been. The 03-04' G35's have dynoed a little under 240 hp to the wheels. The 05+ have dynoed 253 to the wheels. There is also a new MREV mod for the G35, that has proven to be the best bang for the buck. It has been dyno proven to add 20hp/30torque to the wheels for the 298 hp engine. Most of the gains were in the 4500rpm range too, so it's not all up top, as I"m not talking about gains at the peak.

Even for the non 298hp engine, the Motordyne ISO thermal has been dyno proven to add around 15hp to the wheels in the same RPM range.

Too bad it's not compatible with FF-L VQ35DE Nissans (Maxima, I35, Murano, Altima V6 and Quest) I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it fit my Maxima. $265 is a minimal investment for 12-14hp. (LINK)

You're the one who's giving G35 more than is reality.

Here are some stuff I found using google. They are pretty easy to find, you should try it before pulling crap out of nowhere.

"Faster than a C5 convertible vette" Please!!

2003 G35 Coupe - 14.6 @ 98.6 mph

E36 M3 - 14.3 @ 98 mph

1997 Corvette Conv - 13.8 @ 102.1 mph

Just for comparision... TL is not bad for a big sedan...

2004 Acura TL - 14.8 @ 96.6 MPH

Sorry, whoever was involved in the racing and filiming of this are total dipshits!

Racing on a crowded, damp highway makes a lot of sense. Just another example of why spolied brats shouldn't be given high-performance cars by mommy and daddy. Incredibly irresponsible.

I wonder how much advanced driver training these fuck heads had? How many innocent pepole did they put at risk?

I'm surprised no one called the cops on them. I would have gotten license numbers and travelled with the cops to personally id these assholes.

If you want to play Speed Racer, do it on a race track or at least a deserted highway. I used to autocross in college, and later joined the SCCA. I completed a course at Bondurant in the late 80's.

agreed, these kids (as well as whoever's driving the TL) are complete assholes.

I'm sure they had absolutely zero training.

I went to SCCA autocrosses and Audi high performance driving school before and they definitely made me a better driver. They're absolutely the best "mod" for the buck.

14.6sec for a G35C 6MT seems to be slower than most interations of the G35S/X/C 5AT, particularly when documented to be as quick as 13.9 on the G35 site.

And that 13.8@102 is a joke for a vette. I could go faster in a 3.23 geared auto.

just to add in my experience. I gunned it twice with G35 coupes and kept up. The only thing is that the were coupes and stick and had control over first after second gear i was right on them and drafting works great over hundred..i got up to 130 with one of them and i was done..fastest i've ever gone in a car. And my car is a 04 Auto TL

ok video i guess..I just like to see our cars in action though so a little biased. I love passing other TL's on the road in the opposite direction. They look hot and you can always spot them for a distance because of beam pattern.

Is it me or am I missing something? The TL is a entry-level luxury sedan. While it is more sporty than most sedans...it is still a sedan. The TL is a great car to drive and very responsive when needed.

I would expect if someone wanted to race they would get a lighter car with a bigger engine...most likely a coupe. Those kids in the video are idiots. You should never drive like that in slick conditions because it not only puts you in danger but everyone else on the road.

Enjoy the TL as it is meant to be enjoyed. A sporty luxury sedan...not a formula 1 racer. Just my

I agree.

How fast does the TL need to be, really? If you want a fast car that gives you bragging rights after every stoplight encounter, you would have bought something else. It's just not built for that purpose. The TL, to me, is an all-rounder, capable in many aspects of the automotive experience, with no obvious weaknesses. It's a typical Honda product, in other words, which is a compliment in itself.
