[Auto X] Anyone ever Auto X their TL?

I went last weekend with a couple buddies. I was too late to sign up to run my TL but it got me really curious as to how it would do...

Anyone have any experience?

Autocrossing. Pretty much going through cones and coming up with the fastest times. Like a track

I would not think that a stock TL would do that well in a Autox event... Of course it depends on how the course is layed out. I have autox'd in a SRT4 with 36-way coilovers/upgraded brakes, sways, strut tower bars. And i have autox in a SRT6 Crossfire. I would of done it in a Z4 but never had the chance to try it.

Not that it won't be fun to do, i just do think it is the kind of car to do it in.

Thats what everybody thinks until they actually try it.

Ask me about anything. I do it about every other weekend and currently am the points leader in the streed mod class in the Indy Region and am doing it in my 2005 Acura TL. I am also the Co-Chair for the Autocross/Solo program as well as a director for the Indy Region SCCA Board of Directors.

Now just tell me this doesnt seem like fun...this isnt a TL here but you get the point!

If you check in the race section I have an entire AUTOCROSS thread for this season with pics and such therein. Just added some from this weekend a matter of fact.

Are you saying that your the point leader because your doing it in a TL? I would think that your the points leader because you have put in the seat time to be a good driver in such a event.

And yes, Autox is extremely fun to do, I once had the thought that "how fun could be going around a parking lot avoiding cones?" Oh, how wrong i was... I don't know how much people here are into the motorsports, but it is the easiest on the car when compared to the 3 larger events one can do. Autox is much easier on a car when compared to Drag racing and Road Racing. I went to the track a few times in different cars, i've had in the last 2 years a very well modded SRT4, tC, SRT6, GTO, G35 and Z4. SRT4 was taken to the track quite often and autox in over 2 summers, the SRT6 went to the track a bunch of times, i autox in it a couple of times and road raced with it once. The GTO went down the 1/4 mile a few times. For the most part, Autox never left me with issues after doing the event.

I suggest that people try it at least once or at the very least jump in for a ride along with someone and check it out.

No...I am not saying I am the leader in Street Mod Class due to the fact I am driving a TL. That is more of a hinderance than anything honestly in comparison to what I usually compete against...but the fact I CAN pull off a first in Street Mod is a direct attestment of nothing but seat time in the car and my own skillsets. My point was you CAN race the TL and have a quite a good time and learn a lot while doing it.

Yep...that kind of stuff will get you banned for life from any SCCA event. Although it appeared this was not a standard autocross...but some kind of showboating event as there was NO safety personnel or staff reacting whatsoever to the stupidity shown. Definately not an SCCA run event.

I once autox'ed a stock '84 Fiero , it was fun . There was an event at the local minor league ballpark so I payed my money and took my lap . I would like to do it again in my TL but not any events around here anymore . I'd love to get into doing it often but that seems unlikely .!!!!

Wow Dejavu... I was thinking about AUTO X this whole week. I saw the new Hyundai Genesis doing it, and wanted to know how the TL-S compared to it.
