*Sigh* Hit and run
That seems AWFULLY high. I would shop around and get at least three other quotes. Are they replacing the fender? It doesn't look that bad.
I have 2 more people i am going to see this week to get a quote from...This place was recommended by the dealership i bought it at...they do lot of high end cars.
The other 2 are three C body shop and a place my insurance agent recommended
OH and no they aren't going to replace ANYTHING...they said they would ahve to take the whole quarter pannel off and repaint it to match rest of the car. in the quote it says "14 dollars for parts" and rest is paint and labor.

sucks...my worst nightmare whenever i come out from work and do my "walkaround" of my car...i always park on an end spot either crowd the curb or make sure there is no room for another car to park between me and the one beside me...hope you get it fixed soon

I do have insurance but it will hike my premium up by a lot so i was just seeing if i can fix it w/o going to them. Right now looks like insurance is the way to go tho...my deductible is only 250

Are they taking a week-long vacation on your dime too?
Try several other shops. There is no need to even remove the fender. Just scuff it up, put on some body filler, get a color matching machine to match the color from the rest of the car (which will account for sun damage, etc.), and respray. I'm thinking $600 tops.

Do people even leave notes anymore? Seems like hit and run is the norm nowadays. People just don't care. It's an "FU" world we live in.
Oh and that repair shouldn't be more than $1K IMHO. Probably quite a bit less.

lol they said 8 days to fix this baby....i said i'll think about it and walked right out of there. Really wish i knew how to fix this! u guys think some body filler would do the trick? and i can always go to Todd to get the scuff marks and other things off the paint.
It's a pretty big dent tho...i don't know how well body filler works.

been there done that, it sucks so bad. i think at that point, i would just accept that its inevitable and not fix it. the only thing u can realli protect is the interior of your car. i would just not fix it and treat the TL like a car that takes u from point A to B from now on. it was fun while it lasted.
Sorry to see this, OP. Hopefully it gets sorted out accordingly.
Since it was a hit-and-run, it shouldn't affect your insurance premiums. Pay the deductible to get the work done at a reputable shop and call it a day IMO.

Maybe because POS cars don't have nice interiors? I get it. I wouldn't do it, but I get it. People are fucks.
Ouch.. I hope everything works out. This kind of stuff happened to me a lot with my previous car(06 civic). I live in the city so after time I finally called my insurance and paid the deductible.
2K is close to double what it should cost to repair that! The scratches on the bumper can be polished out. The 1/4 will have to have a little bit of metal work done and be repainted. I'd put the total cost at the UPPER end of 1K.
ok i think it's called the rear quarter panel? meh just found a old thread on here where someone had something similar...he also said ~2k lol
Okay, i'll post with the updates next week i guess! PRAY FOR ME
Also, if you know any good bodyshops in columbus please let me know
Mrtastygoody,
You did?! do you have pics? also what did they do ?

I hope so too man...everyone is saying 8 days to 10 days to get it fixed.
Both places talked about taking off the whole panel and painting it to blend it into the surrounding panels/door so it looks good and that is where all the labor and paint $$$ comes in. So while the fix seems minimal the $$ is in the making it look good by blending the panel with rest of the car. So far 2 different places have said smiliar things which leads me to believe they aren't ripping me off...i'm going to get a 3rd one as well.
All i care about in the end is that she looks good, so i might pull the triger early next week and go through insurance depending on how bad the hike would be if i picked the 2000 one as they seemed like the best place so far.
I think your misunderstanding these places. at least I sure as hell hope you are. I would assume that where you are hearing taking, they are saying taping. the only reason to remove a rear quarter panel is to replace it, not repair it...which there is absolutly no reason to do. its a pretty insignifigant amount of damage honestly.
either way, people are fucks. really sorry to see this

I bought my tl with damage in the same exact spot, but luckily it was mostly repairable with the exception of where the paint chipped off. its amazing what the paintless dent repair places can do these days.
I dunno...that's the impression i got cuz they kept saying "will have to come off" the Three C body shop was crazy..they said my tail light and my side marker will have to come off along with my doors window glass and the back "windshield"
ugg, taillight, rear marker, bumper for sure would need to come off, but I would think just the trim on back window(s) and tape would be suficient for blending. removing both doors seems like overkill to me. i dunno, not a body guy, but seems like they want to remove a lot of shit, or at least tell you thier taking that much stuff off.
I watched a local guy do a repair on a rear quarter quite a few years ago. he did all his blending on just the rear quarter. didnt take it into the door, rear bumper, or trunklid or anything. I was told he was really good at blending, so maybe me assuming all painters can accomplish this is incorrect. So forgive me if Im off here.

I got that same damage only a fair amount worse a month ago. When I pull pics off my phone tomorrow I will show before and after, but was $1800 total repair. I have Allstate and am on Platinum package or something so my rates will never go up.
EDIT: Im bored... Before and after...

Lets just say make sure your damn 6MT is fully in gear when you park

won't parking like that guy make you look like an asshole who doesn't know how to park? i understand that you don't want people to accidentally bump into your car but you also don't want to give irritated drivers a reason to vandalize your car either...
just park really really really far away. that's what i do and i haven't had any dents, dings, scratches or any other problems like that.
