$250+ for HID installation?

So I called my local shop to have the HID lights install/upgrade on my DRL, fog lights, & parking/turn signal lights and they quoted $250+ for the larbor.. Is this too much? Am I gettin' ripped off? The parts only cost me $145 (VLEDS). Is it even worth it? Just want your AZine.

You're going to put HIDs in your DRLs? Cool!

HID's are pretty much plug and play. If you dont wanna DIY, it shouldn't cost more than 20-40 bucks.

Very easy, DIY. But if the guys is gonna take the time to do and run the wiring all neat and clean by taking your bumper off and crap then I can see that price being warranted. IF not then its too much.

No way would anyone charge 20-40 bucks. You have to remove the bumper. There is another way but I doubt any shop would risk problems

I wanna install the 3000k HID in my DRL place so I can control it with a switch. Anyone know if anyone has it done, or what I should search for?

I think the reason why you're saying that you're not really a DIYer is because you're scared. That's understandable because you don't want to f things up. If you read carefully the threads that countless other members have posted on here, you'll do fine. Take your time and don't rush it. If you don't have the tools to do it, go out and buy it. I bet you the tools will be less than the cost of labor they're willing to charge you.

+1....some members and I have wired our foglights to turn off/on independently also.

Pm "Mug" that posted in this thread. He has a killer DIY where he added an accord foglight switch to his DRL's. So he can turn them off/on anytime he wants.

Ok so I took it to another place and they charged me like $50 per hour for labor. It's fine so I went ahead got it installed. Now here's a question, my fog lights sometimes turn on sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it even blinks/flashes like you would see on a cop's car... (it was fine when i picked up the car) so my question is, who do i held responsible for? V-LEDS or the place that did the installation? Thanks guys.

This is why it's always a better idea to donor yourself. This way you can easily diagnose what's wrong with it. It's hard to say if it's either been installed wrong or a faulty ballast without physically going through all the connections.

So I called them this morning, they said I can bring the car in and they'd take a look at the wiring again, so hopefully it's their fault instead of a bad ballast.

my fogs do this too.. and then they went out.

i replaced the stock 10A fuse (burnt) with a 15A fuse. got the fogs running again, but they still blink on and off when the headlights are on, but ONLY WHEN ENGINE ISNT ON.

i need a relay kit huh?
