torque converter rattle (??)

I took my RLX the other day to the dealer for service. The symptom is that when I drive slow, like in heavy traffic (stop/go), cruise slowly, but then accellerate, i hear a metal rattle. Does not happen when the car is in neutral, only when driving. The dealer says it is something related to the torque converter and there is no fix for this. My response to them was that I did not buy an RLX with that rattle or a faulty torque converter (or whatever the cause is), it just started manifesting recently. I've had the car since March 2013 and the noise was not there when I purchased the car.

Going back again to the dealer today, I cannot stand this noise especially when I almost always am stuck in traffic, stop and go.

Wondering if this is something someone else in the forum is experiencing.

Mine only has 3K miles but I have not heard that. I am not looking forward to these types of problems. Acura rates very low on the JD power service dept quality. I guess they are right up their with Volvo and Land Rover. I hear they live in denial most of the time.

First I've heard of this.

If it is the torque converter, there is definitely a fix. They just don't want to face it.

There will probably be a software patch for the pcm to take care of that. Notorious on the TLs and MDXs.

Agreed! - I went to pickup today, the rattle was still there. I drove back to the dealer and spoke with the service manager. If they don't fix...I don't know what else to do...the other closest dealer is 2 hours away...I cannot bring the car every month to the dealer! It is sad when I know the names of all the cashiers, loaner car agents, etc.

They updated the brains of the car to version version 560 from 550. They returned the car still with the rattles, no fix yet.
I decided to cut my loses and sell the car...I no longer own the RLX. Very disappointing experience with Acura in general, the dealership and client relations...not knowing or willing to fix my car, and I was not going to play the "lemon law" card...don't have time for that.
