SMS Text & Email Functions on 2016 RLX Tech with iPhone 7Plus

Does anyone have the SMS Text & Email functions working with the RLX and iPhone 7 plus? Bluetooth connectivity is fine.

My car pick up my SMS msg from my Android phone just fine via Bluetooth. Just need to pair your device to the car, no additional setup needed.

Enable Text/Email is On. My problem is I cannot even choose an account to use. The option is grayed out/ disabled.

1. Press SETTINGS.
2. Select Phone Settings.
3. Select Select Account. <— disabled

Finally got this partially working... you have to enable MAP, Message Access Profile, for the HandsFreeLink Bluetooth connection on the iPhone. The text messages now pop-up, but when Replying with one of the six predefined responses, I get a failure to Send. Frankly, it's not worth the trouble... or maybe it is?? Getting spoiled with ACC...

Here are the instructions to enable MAP on the iPhone, if interested.

iOS 7 Handfree message setup
  1. Pair your phone with the vehicle using the proper steps for individual vehicle.
  2. In you iPhone open settings
  3. Open Bluetooth connections
  4. Locate the head unit device. This is located below the Bluetooth on/off slider. A standard name may be Car Multimedia, locate your head unit name. There will be a button off to the right shaped like a lower case i with a circle around it, tap that and it will open up settings for the device/vehicle.
  5. Turn on "Show Notifications"
  6. Go back to home screen and turn phone off then turn it back on.
  7. While your vehicle is still on and your phone completely boots up they should connect automatically and the text messages should start coming through your vehicle as long as it's turned on in the vehicle settings.

Ever since iOS 11 beta versions, a number of us have been having all kinds of Bluetooth problems with our cars.

*Low volume on phone calls
*Static on phone calls
*Names no longer overwrite numbers on history
*Contacts do not replicate

iMessages is just about the only thing that we can get working right.

This showed up in the betas and was reported, but there were not enough of us for them to focus on fixing it.

Apple knows that it is their problem, not Honda/Acura's problem. Apple is what changed, not the infotainment system.
