Siri Eyes-Free

Did the RLX ever get Siri Eyes-Free? If so, is there a retroactive update for 2014 models?

Thanks, pgeorg.

Just so I am clear (from other threads), the "Hey Siri" function is a workaround to this; however, you have to manually change the source to Bluetooth before doing so.

In other words, if I was listening to FM and I said "Hey Siri, call my wife," the call would not be directed to Bluetooth automatically, correct?

I don't believe so, because it should come through the infotainment system as a phone call. I have not tried that yet, but I will today and let you know.

Thanks again.

In my TLX for eyes-free, I just press and hold the talk button on the steering wheel until the Siri tone comes on and then say my command, no matter what source I am on. Same with "Hey Siri." So much more efficient than the Acura bluetooth way of doing it, which gets the words I say wrong 87% of the time.

The other option, if that didn't work for the RLX, would be to consider a smartphone mirroring interface to work with the top screen.

I totally agree, and I believe it is also enabled on the 2016-2017 MDX. At least, since I believe it comes through as a phone cal, you do not have to switch sources......

I utilize the speed dials, or the iPhones phone book (I know, old school)

I just tried it, it works as I said above. It does not matter what source you're in, it comes through as a phone call. "Hey Siri" worked as intended, without any mistakes.

HTH.

Hey Siri! might change when you have to upgrade to iOS 10.3.2.

I'm on Beta 3, and there is no way to get it to work as Bluetooth. Although it still works perfectly, it is always answered from the handset, and there is no way to get it to work over Bluetooth.

As the devices are upgraded, there isn't going to be a way to upgrade the RLX's compatibility.

I can't wait to hear from the first S8 person with Bluetooth 5.0. :-) The iPhone 8 will also be Bluetooth 5.0.

Found a nice workaround without using "Hey Siri." I also had to do some setting changes in my RLX. The auto transfer was turned off so no music, etc came through over BT, so I made sure to turn that on

What I do is simply hold the home button and say "call _____" and it switches automatically to BT. I still have to switch the source to listen to BT music, but the home button on iPhone works the same. So, almost like Siri Eyes Free but instead of hitting button on wheel, you hit the home button on iPhone to activate Siri.

I don't know where you have your iPhone in your car, but I wonder whether for most of us this would be impractical.

I'm not pushing buttons on my iPhone while I am driving. :-)
