Two more damaged tires

I hit something on the side of the road at low speed. It punctured the front tire and cut the back tire.did a number on the back rim as well.

About two hours to get a flat bed truck thru Acura Roadside Assistance.

The dealer said the tires are not in stock anywhere locally so it will take a few days.

I have never had a cut or punctured tire before - bad luck or tires that are less tough than they used to be?

In that case I have had bad luck twice. 2 tires, 2 rims.

Sorry to hear that. It seems low profile tires on larger rims are not practical, don't ride as well for typical drivers and are more prone to tire and rim damage. I look forward to this trend hopefully going bye bye. Even the new Honda accord touring has 19 inch rims. More rubber seems like it would equal more comfort.

I am up to three new tires so far. Hopefully, they can balance the rims. I suspect the lease inspector will charge me for at least two new rims at the end. How much are they worth?

When I had to replace my rims (had extra wheel and tire coverage) the retail for rim was $1025 - for one rim. I balked and complained and got that down to $735. Rims that are not too damaged can be repaired to the tune of about $150.

With the risk of tire & rim damage with these low profile tires, I would get those damaged rims repaired for that cost and keep them as standby replacements.

Unfortunately the two rims I had replaced were too damaged to repair. Plus, the second damaged rim was the one that was replaced earlier. Some luck, huh?

Time for monster truck tires and wheels?

This is one reason I tend to shy away from low profile tires. The other is the ride degradation.

I realize they permit better performance handling, but as often as I drive near limits (as most drivers) the risk tends to outweigh the benefits.

Rims were not cracked and balanced OK so I got away with two tires. Service writer said a guy totaled two rims and tires recently for $2200 !

Good news Mr. White. I find I now spend more time looking for road debris that I do enjoying the drive.

R. White...If its any consolation, the same thing happened to me earlier this spring, then this morning, got a screw in my tire but a 20$ patch job fixed it!

I hit a small pothole last year and one of the tires had a bubble in the side rim. Luckily, the local dealer had a replacement tire. I checked around at the independent tire dealers hoping for a better price and none of them carried the tire in the RLX specs.

Lost 1 front tire 245/45/18 and damaged 2 rims. Rims were repaired and tire replaced app 400.00 total.
Pot holes, my bad luck.
I pay keen attention to road surface avoid potholes etc.
I am not sure if it would be possible to fit Acura 17 inches rims with tires having higher side walls.
