Traffic Jam Assist

Had an opportunity tonight to take the RLX to pickup some food. Being a Friday night in Los Angeles, traffic was bumper-to-bumper as usual. I set the cruise, let my foot off the pedal and hands lightly touching the wheel, the car did an amazing job following the FedEx truck in front of me. Other cars were cutting in front of me, the car did its job hitting the brakes. Never once I felt the car would lose control or crash. I freaking love this car! So smooth and all the tech is on-board, exactly what I was missing from my previous Lexus. Where was this car when I was commuting 100 miles per day years ago? Now I work from home so I'll probably rarely use Traffic Jam Assist again. Nice to know it's available especially with crazy LA traffic. And the Krell Audio is outstanding. Was bumping some Hip/Hop with my daughter in the back seat. She loved it!

I haven't tried T-Jam assist in my home town of ABQ. Hwy speeds can be 70-80 mph during rush hour and drop rapidly to bumper-to-bumper at certain bottle necks. Braking can feel like a panic stop at those speeds. I just use ACC once I leave the city limits out of town (T-Jam comes in handy for hwy construction zones that drop down to 25-45 mph).

I really haven't compared T-Jam Assist in the RLX to Low Speed Follow (LSF) of my 19 MDX. I usually don't use my ACC within city limits.

I think LSF is similar to TJA except that you need to steer the vehicle at all times with LSF, unlike TJA. LSF is ACC for low speeds, but no LKAS below ~45mph. 2018+ TLX also has LSF but not TJA.

TJA should be standard on all Acura cars. Wish our MDX had it. It's very useful for people who commute to heavy traffic.
