Is there any issue tinting the windshield on cars with the heated windshield? Does it cause any issues with the other systems such as the rain sensing wipers or lane keeping assist? I typically do a very mild 5% tint on my windshields to get the UV protection from the film. It does a great job of keeping the car cooler in the summer and protecting the dash and interior from damage.

 

Good question. I have my RLX front windshield tinted but it is not heated. I do not think that it would be an issue since the rear windshield has a defroster with no problems. There are no issues with the radar as that is housed in the rear view mirror mount which the tint is cut around. Not sure about the wipers but since the tint is on the inside - probably not ... ?

I got the lightest tint possible since front windshield tinting is illegal but I have seen online that there are some legal clear ones now.

 

You have a heated windshield? I thought that was only on canadian model?

It won't effect lane keeping assist or anything since those are behind the mirror in that unit

 

The web site shows that "Front windshield de-icer" is part of the Advance package. I pick up my RLX on Tuesday, I'll look for the thin wires described in the owners manual when I get it home.

 

On the US Model?

We just bought a brand new 2018 RLX Advance pkg I didn't notice the button Ill have to look again. I work at Acura and know MDX Advance has the windshield I don't know if RLX does Ill have to look I have a 18 RLX advance on my lot I can check

 

The manual says that it works when the button for the rear window defogger/heated side mirror is used. There is not a dedicated button for it. Nothing on the Acura web site or owners manual indicate it is only on Canadian models. I'll find out when I pick up the car on Tuesday.

 

5% isnt mild!! It shouldnt bother the LKA because it doesnt cover the camera. I had my windshield tinted 70% 3m crystalline and it didnt affect any type of sensors.
