So long 06, Hello 18
So long 06, Hello 18
Bought the 06 RL in 2009 with 25K miles, It now has 190K and it was time for something else. Looked at lots of premium sedans but had to jump on the 18 RLX Sport Hybrid with 19K miles and a dealer certification. I never drove a Sport Hybrid before purchasing this one from a dealer 240 miles away based solely on my experience with the RL and everything I read here and other places. Only had it a week but could not be happier with the purchase.
Congratulations EdsGro!!
If you loved your RL, you will love the RLX even more with that lovely low rev torque from the Sport Hybrid system, the huge rear seat and the bonus fuel economy surprises.
If you've been following this forum for a while, you may already know about the "M1 trick". The dual clutch tranny usually starts in 2nd gear for a smoother ride, but if you choose sport mode, then manually choose 1st gear with the steering wheel paddles (ie M1 that you will see in the MID), the resulting kick of acceleration (using the paddles to make your upshifts) is about as much fun as you can have in huge, heavy luxury sedan. Probably should only be experimented with when there is nobody else around (especially the boys in blue) on a very safe stretch of road.
Enjoy.
P.S. I also went from an '05 RL to a '14 RLX Sport Hybrid, which is why I can confidently claim that you will love the RLX.

Congrats on the upgrade to one of the best powertrains Acura has in its inventory. I wish Acura would have used this powertrain (3.5L+hybrid tech) for the 3rd and 4th Gen MDX. The only two issues I've had in +5 years with my 18 RLX SH was the 12v battery early failure and rear electric sunshade coming off its tracks (both fixed under warranty). Planning to keep our RLX for awhile; unless, Acura gets back into the Sport Hybrid game with the next gen RDX or MDX.
