I was just looking through some car stuff and stumbled across the new Ferrari F12tdf on Jalopnik. I could not help but think that it looks very close to the new Corvette Z06 with the Z07 Carbon Package. Does anyone else see that?
So relating this question to Acura, what do you all think is the closest luxury car to the RLX in regards to silhouette and overall style? I think it could be the Lexus LS, but maybe I'm wrong. What does everyone think? I thought this might be a interesting topic. Maybe not...
I feel like the RLX is actually sportier looking than the LS.
I cant really put my finger on any one luxury sedan that looks similar to the RLX. I think from this aspect the design is actually unique. From my eyes I see three distinct design languages being combined:
Front - current Acura nose design (MMC 4G TL, TLX, Pre-MMC ILX)
Body - 9G/10G Accord
Rear - Prior gen 7-series
Not saying its good or bad. Just what my eyes see. I always go back to this pick as the definitive silhoutte of the RLX.
This older distance-shot I took a last year capture almost the same stance..
You guys might call me crazy....but my eyes are totally seeing the RLX as nothing more than the 8G Accord Coupe turned into a beefier 4-door luxury version?

I agree with you on all accounts, and most of the time.
My disagreement is I don't think RLX looks sportier than 2013+ LS. The LS looks lot more muscular and aggressive, and RLX looks more "Buicky" when compared to the LS
I can sorta see that. I guess what turns me off about the LS is that it's "boxier", and I'm not a fan of "boxy" looking cars. Also once a car gets as long as that LS, it looks more like a mini-limo to me. I'm also not a fan of long wheel-base cars.
I guess what is where we differ. For me having the luxo barge and we have owned a LS since the second generation and two more generations after that.... is that I think the "L" is a must have.
I don't get why people buy the 740/A8 etc, when I think the iL or the A8L looks so much better.
I think in this executive sedans the lwb looks best, and accentuates the design. Which is the reason the S class is sold in lwb here only.
To me if I want a "short wheel base" executive sedan I rather drive a GS/5 series.
Then again my idea of luxury is Toyota century...so what do I know
For my sports cars in the garage, it is a different story of course....
To me if I want a "short wheel base" executive sedan I rather drive a GS/5 series.
Totally on the same page here as short wheel base is what I love most. Both the GS and 5-series are options on my list come next year, along with the SH, and the 10g Accord/Coupe.
