Luxury
Altho I am always glad to see Acura introduce new tech/features in their vehicles like the heads up display, I do wish that they would focus more on comfort-luxury (they seem to be on the ball with tech items). I never understood why Canada got ventilated seats in 2005 but the US had to wait till 2009; history is probably going to repeat itself now with the heated steering wheel. Also, other brands offer things like extended thigh support & adjustable side bolsters, which would have been a nice touch. The back finally gets heated seats but their controls/options are very sparse compared to the competition.
Overall, I like what they have added & this keeps the RLX on my list but I do not know if I can hold out till the spring to buy a new car; even with $10k off, the FWD model just is not calling my name that strongly (but neither is any other car out there).
On a side note: does anyone know if it is possible to take the original door handles & have them chrome-ified? In a way that looks like it came with the car (matches the chrome around the windows) and not aftermarket? I have read about people color matching their chrome door handles but not vice versa.
Altho there does seem to be an extra layer of something behind the door handle that may make it more difficult? No idea. I am surprised that Acura keeps using the Pomegranate Pearl in a lot of their RLX advertisements as that & the Gilded Pewter are the only 2 colors to have never come to any dealership in my area (wait, 1 did get a PP but it sold almost immediately so I never got the chance to see it). Right now, 1 has 25 RLXs that are all black, white, silver or gray with a few blue-grays but that is it.
I would probably never buy it bc it only comes with the beige interior but the color kind of reminds me of my old Black Currant Pearl: in some pics it looks purpley and others maroony. Hmmm, I ponder if the hybrid will get any exclusive colors ....

How you are you liking your Audi, I had given up on Acura thinking they would never get it right and planned on doing am A6 next year but now seeing that they actually may have done some good with the hybrid RLX, it is back in my top list.

GF just got a 14 AWD RDX Tech, nice ride, but honestly can see where Acura is missing the boat, cheating out in some areas that are stupid. RDX no power outlet in back seat area, no rear seat HVAC vents, no power outlet in cargo area. And not LED tails or DRLS when you can get that in a $17K Sentra. The RDX rides nice, but it's EPS seems overly light. I forgot how much I love ELS, very clean accurate sound.

I am loving it, just posted an update in the TL forum, in the Gone thread. Just turning 3K miles.

Not completely useless. I have the Innovation package with HUD in my 2012 A6 and I could still see the HUD with polarized sunglasses. It was definitely not as bright, but I could still see it. I've switched to non-polarized as I broke my polarized ones on vacation, and it's obviously much more visible.

From my other post:
So I have 3K on the car and will soon be taking it on a long trip. I had posted a review early on and will update it at 5K, but so far it is solid, the things I don;t like are not reliability, but design issues:
- EPS Steering way too light and numb with no on-center feel
- Seats are not all that comfortable, so many adjustments and still tough time finding ideal position
- Brakes feel spongy and too much travel before they engage (have seen a few others complain about this as well)
- Some ergonomic issues about dumb placement and useless cup holders, , cruise control stalk, Start push button, volume knob and HVAC controls.
- 3G speeds of Audi Connect.
On the plus side;
- AMAZING power-train, silky smooth with torque that just keeps giving
- Ride is excellent smooth yet handles very well.
- MMI, this is amazing with just how intuitive and easy to use their MMI/NAV is
-MMI screen and Gauges and info display
- Google Earth and online destinations
- fairly quiet interior
I love the styling and the LEDs everywhere on this car. I don't think there is an incandescent bulb anywhere on this car.
I have had a numerous new cars and this ranks in the top. I would put my 09 AWD TL as the most solid car I every had from a build quality and reliability. The A6 would be in the top 4 so far. My 3G Tls were great cars, but all had some buzzy back decks and some squeaks and rattles from the factory.

Any guesses on 0 to 60 time for the hybrid?
is the fwd 6.3?
is the fwd 6.3?

Burning Brakes
According to Car and Driver and Motor Trend the fwd RLX hits 60 in the 5.8 to 5.9 second range. If I had to make a guess for the Sport Hybrid SHawd, I would guess in the 4.9 to 5.1 second range. That would be sweet.

Burning Brakes
I can't explain why exactly. I'm sure there's someone here who understands the technical reasoning better than I do who could offer a valid explanation. I sort of understand why but would be reluctant to try to explain due to my limited knowledge on the topic. What I do know is that it is almost every car I've ever seen tested has a slower 5-60 than 0-60.
#65
that does seem odd
I could understand if it has already shifted to 2nd gear at 5mph and therefore does a downshift back to 1st, but not sure if that is the case

could the faster 0 to 60 be because the engine is revved when stopped, but not at rolling start

There a few reasons.
First, most car magazines when they quote 0-60mph, they include 1-foot rollout. That means the timer would not start until the car movies 1 foot from its standing still point. When you look at Edmunds Inside Line performance data, they do both - 0-60mph, and 0-60mph with 1ft rollout. Usually the latter time is a few tenths faster. For instance, the Civic Si's 0-60mph without the rollout is 6.6s, but it's down to 6.3s with the rollout.
Another reason is that, for 0-60mph, most testers would use the brake-torquing technique. That means they step on the brake with their left foot, and step on the gas with their right root at the same time. This is especially useful with turbocharged cars since the turbo lag will be eliminated (i.e. boost will be built by doing this). When the driver releases the left foot (brake pedal), he would also floor the gas pedal at the same time (or feather it to maintain traction). This allows a desirable level of wheelspin to get the best acceleration. For cars with manual transmission, the driver is able to rev the engine up (i.e. to 4000rpm or so, depending on the car), and engage the clutch so that the engine is already revving in its sweet spot.
For 5-60mph, you cannot do any of the above. Therefore, cars usually have slower 5-60mph times.

The brake torquing technique will put a lot of stress into the transmission.

I saw it at car show in SF today. I wanted to be wowed. I wasn't. Other than the SH-AWD badge on back it looks exactly like any other RLX. I was hoping for a better wheel package at least.

Three Wheelin'
I believe the "wowing" will occur in the driver's seat on the road or track and at the gas pump. Cosmetically, the same issues brought up with the FWD RLX apply (except I do like/prefer the fog lights in the front bumper).

Having been a careful observer of the RL, and now the RLX, for the past several years it appears to be a well designed and executed luxury sedan, reliable and enduring with subtle understated elegance.
I'm particularly intrigued by the latest iteration with SH SH-AWD.
The major issue, is price point, compared to the competition in this segment. I would not pay $60K+ and doubt many will. I'll wait a year, or two, and consider used when they hit the $40K+ range. The RLX just doesn't have the allure of MB, Audi, Lexus, etc, fine with me, it's a better car. Especially 5,6,7 years down the road.

Hypothetically, 2yo RLX(AWD) with sub-20K miles in the range of $40-45K depending on package.
Strictly my subjective opinion...
