I stumbled across these accessory wheels for the RLX... I believe they are new for 2016. I like them a lot... they look similar to the accord sport wheels but classier.
There's also a new woodgrain-look steering wheel available
I think these wheels are GORGEOUS and should have been available on the TLX! Would they fit is the million dollar question...
Its been a while since Acura has put out a wheel design that I like....It is very Accord-like but still, if you can't do a decent design, might as well copy it from your parent company.
I wonder if the new wheels have the Helmholtz resonators of the stock wheels? I assume so since they are directly offered for the RLX, but there is no mention of it in the description. They do look decent.
But ye gods! At almost $2800 for the set, I might as well buy aftermarket, the price is the same. Still thinking about those Vossen CV5s.
They're probably deliberately designed to make enough noise to take your mind off of the wind noise coming in the driver window.

Wrong bolt pattern. RLX is 5 x 120 and TLX is 5 x 114 IIRC. I prefer OEM too whenever possible (ie they give us decent options).
Ouch. Is it not still the quietest car you have ever driven? You may have to let your dealer try again.
LOL.... :-)
Yes, it's still pretty quiet. It's just annoying (in a small way) that we can't fix the wind noise. Looking at the side molding, I can see exactly where the problem is, too.
If I take it back to the dealer they're going to do it again with no guarantee they'll do it any better. They've already done it twice because the first time they did it, the tech told them to call me and say to give him another couple of days because he could tell it didn't set right and he wanted to get the parts again and re-do it.
I'm telling you...if you have this problem you will be able to see it with the naked eye and you'll be very tempted to get a caulking gun and have at it.
I don't know how to separate the configuration image out of the Acura site, and I don't know how to force a resizing of a screen capture without hacking the site's admincp (which would cause massive panic), but here's a resized screen capture of what my car would look like with the new diamond cut wheels.
I'm surprised how much I like them.
But I've got another question: Does it seem to anybody else that these are the wheels that we were shown in the JDM Legend catalogue? The Honda Access wheels that were also shown on some of the Mugen Legend pictures?
I hate to suppose I'm going to spend thousands of dollars on these, but it's not like I've ever had a lot of sense anyway.

Can you send a picture with the problem circled so I can see it with my naked eye. I am not willing to do it myself, but I am willing to bring my caulk gun over to my dealer and stand over the tech while he does it. :-)

I straightened out the gasket, and it's very loose. It shouldn't wiggle between the car and that piece of molding.
The sun's not out today, but the next time that it's a solid clear day (might be a week) I'll try to do a video and Youtube it so you can see it wiggling around and why this is probably the source of the tiny bit of wind noise.
I hate to make a big deal out of this, because it's really and truly such a minor little teeny bit of noise.
In an otherwise tomb-silent vehicle, however, it just sort of stands out.
I'd venture to guess that at 60 mph on a calm day, on good black Interstate pavement, it's still in the 58-60 dbA range.
Another thing: I haven't been to all these rock concerts. I still hear pretty well for a 60 year old, and that's another thing to consider.

I like the wheels... but at that price there are lots of options.
So I had to figure out what this Helmholtz Resonator is. I found the Honda Patent. Interesting....
I think what's interesting about this is that the actual exterior design of the rim apparently has nothing to do with the ability to create the Helmholtz resonator function. Meaning Acura can do a much better job in actual rim design without compromising the noise reduction capabilities.

Acura needs to team up with Vossen, ADV, Work, RonJons, or HRE (i.e. people whose job it is to design stylish wheels) to make nicer rims if they are going to be charging that much for them....and they can attach the noise reducing tech.
Lord knows that Acura can't design a stylish wheel to save their lives. Just look at....every concept vehicle the last few years other the NSX.
I have a perhaps-off-subject question about these noise-reducing wheels. A couple of weeks ago I hit a huge pothole (picture of a the pothole catching the next guy attached - ha!) and had to have my rim straightened (and blew out a tire). Should I be at all worried that the rim-straightening work (done by a 3rd party contractor to my dealer) might compromise the noise-reducing ability of the wheel?

Whoa! You hit that! You need your car straightened ! Even dealers use 3rd party as you state. As long as they follow the process specified by the OEM you should be fine. Only way to find out is if you experience vibrations, excessive noise, pulling to some side, and unusual tire wire. You should be present when they spin the rim and balance it so you can see for yourself how it shows up on the display--perfectly round and weight balanced.
Yes, very! All this time I gave them the benefit of the doubt that the ongoing lack of styling and options in their rims was a compromise for the sake of their quest to reduce road noise.
I'm really not digging this recent "ninja star" / "shuriken" flavor to their rims, as you can see some of it in this new RLX rim. I get they are trying to add some "movement" the look of the design, but that hole hard angle star look is a turn off for me. Same thing they did with those one set of rims for the new ILX. I wish they would set their standards based on the V6 TLX rims or the 19" TLX rims. Those are both nice sets of rims of which Ive seen in person.
Do the 19" option rims for the TLX fit the RLX? Not the chrome ones but the diamond cut ones.

I wouldn't think so based on bolt pattern differences, since they are likely 7.5 inches wide and the stock 19s on the RLX I believe are 8 inches. I could be mistaken.
