Need help RLX Permanent DTC Codes
Need help RLX Permanent DTC Codes
I’m planning to buy a used 2018 Acura RLX Technology Package.
I had a mobile PPI done because the dealership only allows on-site inspections, which I understand. The PPI mechanic also scanned the car and shared the diagnostic report. The scan showed 6 DTCs, and all of them were listed as “Permanent DTC.”
I’m still learning about this, so I had to rely mostly on the PPI mechanic. My main question is: what exactly do Permanent DTC codes mean?
When I asked the dealership, they said these are not active/live codes. They said Permanent DTCs usually refer to past codes and mentioned that the car had been sitting idle for around 6 months before they bought it from their customer. According to them, the battery may have died or gotten weak during that time, which could have triggered these codes.
However, the PPI mechanic said he has not really seen permanent codes like this before, so he is not completely sure whether Permanent DTCs always mean past codes and definitely not active/live issues.
I do not want to rely only on the dealership’s explanation. Can any RLX owners or Acura/Honda techs confirm whether Permanent DTC codes usually mean past/non-active codes, or whether they can still indicate a current issue?
I have included the scan output below. Here is a copy/paste ASCII version that closely resembles the TOPDON report layout:
