Nav/Trafffic - Bluetooth etc

Does anyone have issues with their Navigation and Bluetooth system in the RLX?

I've had 4 RL's and one TL in the last 10+ years, I NEVER had to complain about any of their cars till I got the 2014 RLX. Since the beginning the Nav/Traffic never showed up in the screen except for the first 3 weeks I had the car and for a week after I got in back from the Dealer. Both the Bluetooth and Navigation systems are slow. They continuously freeze and take forever to upload on their respective screens. The Dealers cannot find the issue but claim the installed an entirely new console. But still no improvements other than a weeks worth of Traffic. Furthermore, the navigation itself is HORRIBLY OUTDATED! It constantly redirects to the wrong directions etc.

Anyone else with these, or similar complaints? Suggestions?

Any suggestions?

The RLX/5G Legend was on the cusp of a breakthrough. You see the underpinnings of a great system, but then if you sit in a TLX Advance, you wonder why the lower priced TLX seems to have more processor power and less bugginess.

It's annoying.

But basically I think that I'd complain mostly about (1)the speed of the interface and (2)a less than thoughtful way of implementing likely voice commands. The voice commands should be resident in all menus all of the time, and they're not. This is simply a matter of having thought ahead of time to give us enough RAM to load all of the voice commands in every menu when the system is initialized every time you start the car.

A faster processor would help with the time it takes to initialize the system, too. Something that always slightly annoys me is that when I've started my car, which because it is a Sport Hybrid says Ready to Drive as soon as you touch the switch, I cannot ever manage to fully inititiize before I am needing the backup camera and the lines on the backup camera.

I joked in another thread that the system also cannot always seem to understand my accent, which is a combination of Tidewater and Piedmont. We have no final R's and no final G's, and there is no such thing as a monosyllabic pronunciation in my part of the world.

The danged thing just doesn't understand me unless I stop and use Broadcast English.

About Traffic: AcuraLink might be able to help you with figuring out why this isn't working right, and it might also be helpful if you allow your dealer to upgrade to the latest software, if you have an RLX made in the earlier run.

They make a big deal about Traffic being delivered by cellular now, but I don't see that it is as big a difference from satellite as I might have expected. The hash marks in green are only "predicted" [sic] traffic based on previously established patterns. You might very well find yourself at a standstill in a place that's showing green hash marks, and this can make you angry.

Using cellular delivery of traffic information also removes a screen that I used to like, meaning the satellite-delivered radar images of weather systems. Although the satellite only gave you a 50 mile look at things, it was helpful in predicted whether you'd be heading into a snowstorm or had a way to avoid it.

I think that the biggest reason we have cellular traffic is because they needed a cellular signal for AcuraLink to work for your connections to a live human and for emergency services, so satellite had to go the way of the dinosaurs because it became an extra and unnecessary expense.

When you negate the unreliability of the hash marks, the cellular traffic isn't really any more reliable or prompt than the satellite traffic was. Both systems only give you Interstate and Primary traffic fully reliably.

With what Bluetooth devices are you having trouble, and are these devices in the list of compatible devices?

the other problem with the cell-based traffic is the distance it shows traffic from your location. It is well less than 100 miles, probably more like 50. Driving back yesterday, I had to make a route decision, but traffic info not available for the 3 different routes before I had to commit to 1 of them.
