Ok you guys, I have a dilemma, I cannot find the "Device Code" within the System Settings. I'm trying to order a NAV Update and as part of the order completion you need the 11 Digit Device Code, so I can't complete the order.
What is listed in the Sys Settings is: APN_COMMON_PW but that is a generic code sys generated if you have a Battery Failure, or so I'm told.
First I went to the dealer hoping they would have or could retreive the Code, but to no avail, so I called Acura and they were very sympathetic and passed my concern on to Tech Support. WAITING!!!!!!
Anyone aware of a series of shortcuts that I can input to retrieve the Code?????
I am not sure I am understanding what you are seeing, but this where you would find the Device Code, and all the rest of the info you need for you to order the DVD. You need to go to this one: System Device Information.
If you already know this and it doesn't show it, I apologize.
Thanks peorg,
That's where I had all the fun of explaining my problem to Acura......I found the SYS Dev Info folder but my specific device code was not in there, just the TEMP...
If you are up to spending 5 min to get to another place where the Device ID should be, you can try the following:
Open TSB 13-008, and go to step 7 (perform the button press to get into the detail mode). On step 8 instead of choosing "Version", you need to choose "Unit Check".
Then choose "ECU INFO", and you will see Serial No# (which should be your Device ID), and DB Version (which should be your current database version).
I am not certain I am addressing your specific issue but as I understand it if you go to System Device Information there will be device code with 3 letters followed by 8 digits at the 4th line labelled device. Then again, you guys know much more than I do.
Also, when you do the update and it asks you for the 5 digit code, you can just enter past it. I don't know why they even have that in there. I updated my nav last month and I got stumped for half an hour before I actually read the screen that said I could just press enter rather than enter new code.
peorg;
I ran the procedure you provided and followed to a Tee, and the serial showed "APN_COMMON_PW" as described above.
Here I was hoping for a for a successful outcome...
Thanks, it didn't take but a minute or two to run the process..
Ok, Mystery Solved,
Went to my Acura Dealer from whom I purchased the RLX from in 2013, explained the problem and they took the car into the shop called Acura Hqs, took screen shots (which they couldn't believe) and emailed them.
About 2 hrs later I get the call I was waiting for, It seems the Mfg/Vendor for the unit when completing for shipment did not complete the Software Load and thusly it developed the Temp Code.
Gets better, Acura says replace the unit with new, free of all charges and return the removed unit overnight to Acura for examination.
First time they have seen this, and to think I was afraid I was going to pay $500.00 out of pocket.
Only question is: Which Unit is being replaced? and will it come with new update Nav Software???
Thank you all for your help, it was a great relief to have so many compatriots...
Excellent news! I am glad it worked out, and I would ask the dealer to make sure they load the latest map update before they return the car. I doubt they would have a problem with that.....
Glad the issue was resolved. Dealers don't usually inventory the more recent versions as I recall asking before I got mine and they said it was third party. Still, at least you got to the bottom of things.
Resolution Update Called the dealer this afternoon to see if EDA for the new unit, Seems Acura had a computer Failure and all or most orders have to be resent....Uggh!!!!
I'm pretty sure there is going to be a lot of midnight oil being burned...
At least the new unit should have the latest Navigation software version installed
Received my 17 Update today and installed it, all well....
The dealer had to wait a little over 2 wks for the HD to arrive and they installed it ran the diagnostics and software in 2.5 hrs.
Great job,a First Class Acura Dealer.
Now where to go for our summer excursion....Hmmmm!
