The little red light again
During service last week, i had the dealer check Acuralink because it was unreliable. Of course, the answer came back - everything is fine. Now, the little red light is on. All Acuralink and traffic functions are dead. Maybe....
Same thing happened to me during my last service visit (which involved several firmware updates). They essentially had to reset the entire NAV system for Acuralink services to come back online.
I have not confirmed this, but I believe pulling the battery for a few seconds so the car loses all power will achieve the same results. Turning off the car doesn't have the same effect as the NAV/Acuralink system stays in a lower power mode so that you can still use all the Acuralink iPhone app functions to track car status, etc.

" Defective HFL Unit ". Component is on back-order.

I think that if you ever see the red light, you should assume you have the faulty GPS unit and get it checked out for free replacement under the terms of that TSB!
I saw it a few times on my first RLX Advance (P-AWS) but my second one built in 2014 has never had a red light.

The red light is on in mine for the first few minutes after I start my car, then it turns green and all is good. I take it that the system simply takes that much time to boot up.
I guess all these "red light" threads had some effect on Acura!
Thanks, getakey!

I could reach Acuralink humans as well. When I escalated they claimed everything was cell except for gps. The traffic and traffic server reroute all are via cell data. Routes are pushed from Acuralink thru cell.
Just like your phone, the data connection may not be working when voice is

what's interesting is that I had the issue for months and it was cleared from Acuralink side without any physical changes to my car. And symptom was the light turned on after 10 minutes
Obviously the 2 systems (Acuralink and GPS) must exchange info. Wondering whether the telematics receiver is not getting right data from within the car from Acuralink rather than from satellite?

I read through this thread again and realized that I didn't post some important info.
After the module was replaced, the light was green and traffic was working again, but I found that by pushing either of the overhead buttons I received a message announced that I needed I subscription to Acuralink ( which I have ).
I called Acuralink by phone several times explained everything to three different people. ( who didn't seem to know each other. I think they might be working out of their homes )
The third Acuralinker said that the dealer had not notified them that the module had been changed. Apparently, the module generates a discrete signature that ties into the subscription. Good information but, that is far as I got with her. She was not interested in contacting the dealer.
I called the dealer with this information. They were surprised to hear about this requirement. They must have talk to Acuralink later because the buttons started working that day.
Where do I charge my time ?
