Keyless Remote Battery Low

Here's a new one...

Sorta surprised to see this with only a little over 2 years of use with the fob...?

I got the same message last week. Slapped a new CR2032 cell into the remote and all is good.

Note the use of word "cell" instead of battery. Worked for a dry cell/battery manufacturer in my 20s. A cell can be a stand alone electrochemical device or it can be part of a group of cells comprising a battery. This wiki offers more information to those who may be curious:

Two to three years is about right. Very simple to replace - pop the cover, pick up the correct battery, drop it in, done.

Off topic, but WOW at 52827 miles. I see your RLX has brought you many many miles of pleasure in those little over 2 years.

Thanks guys, didn't know this was just a simple DIY battery replacement.

And yes, when I'm not cursing the suspension, she is a dream to drive and has taken me on many roads throughout the last 2 years.

I got the warning message yesterday too. I always keep a spare battery in the center console for the next time it is needed.

^^ Good idea. I don't know how much advance warning the car gives you, but it's great to have this back up. Thanks.

Unhappy Sigh

Seems like I have been having so many car issues lately:

* Hit & Run
* Dead Battery
* Flat Tire
* Now the Key Fob low battery
I watched a YouTube video & it looks kinda easy to replace but it also looks easy to damage your key fob so not sure if I wanna try. May just have the dealership do it. The batteries look relatively cheap on
Amazon Amazon
... I wonder what they charge?

When I had to replace a garage door opener battery once, I took it to Advance Auto and they refused to replace it in fear of damaging the remote so I am not even going to try there ....

I wouldn't worry so much.

If I can do it, anybody can do it. :-)

And since you are concerned about the condition of the fob:

Acura Keyless Remote Key Fob Rubber Cover Jacket 2014 2015 MDX RLX TLX Skin | eBay

NOTE: This if for models WITHOUT Remote Start.

Red face Update

So I ordered 2 batteries from Amazon @ a relatively cheap price. However, the product did not look like the picture (2 batteries torn from a pack instead of packaged as a duo) & the date on the back said 2012 which worried me a little but oh well.

The case was a little tricky to open using a penny & credit card, but not hard (luckily I learned how to get these things open without damage from having hard cases for my phones). So far it has been working fine so I am glad I did not pay the dealership or Batteries Plus a lot more to buy & install the battery.

I like the FOB case but wish there was a cutout on the back to show the Acura logo.

Angry Update

Low battery again. That is twice in 3 years. Batteries lasting only 1.5 years seems kinda fast but I guess are fobs are always on but still ...

For models WITH remote start:

Price went up $4 since I bought two (2) back in May of this year.
