How to Determine Production Number?

Question from the new guy - how does one tell the production number of a particular car? I see the # referenced in a lot of signature blocks from more established members. I assume it is based on the last digits of the VIN but based on other info on the site that does now compute with my 2014 SH (VIN ends in 331 but supposedly only 250 were produced/ imported in 2014)?

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

The 2014 SHs were an introductory batch. They were pre built (Jan-Feb 2014) and sat at the Sayama plant for months. I actually found them on Google Earth when no credible explanation of where they were could be found. By the time they were available for purchase in North America, it was September of 2014 and the 2015 PAWS model was already being released. The pre built batch included some demo cars, corporate drivers and likely the few dozen Canadian spec models. Although Canadian sales are not published by Acura of Canada (at least to my knowledge) we do not know how many Canada spec SHs were made. And Canada got a few 2015 SHs while the 2015 MY was skipped in the USA. So it may be true 250 were for dealer sale in the USA, there were likely 300+ cars built. I assume some of the early demos and corporate cars never made it to consumer sales and were likely disassembled and examined by Honda.
