^^^Interesting...so why not continue the production run with a few thousand units that have an Acura badge and NA specs??? We can hope.
Edit: I was replying to the initial post regarding the Legend.

That's marvellous!

But I can't wait for all us old guys to act like teenagers trying to find JDM parts for our USDM RLX.

:-)

And I herewith renew the idea of calling these what they are: 5G Legend, not 3G RLX.

I wonder where I can buy some LEGEND blades...?

Not sure I'm kidding.

Just curious.... is Acura the only brand still doing this rebadge thing in 2014? For instance, is Lexus directly rebadging their LS or GS as a Toyota, or Infiniti's Q70 etc?

I'm a bit shocked they're still allowing this if they're pushing so hard to separate from Honda.

That's funny George, but it's all about being different

Interesting to see that JDM spec has the amber reflectors?!

"The rear center armrest features a control panel with a large color display, adding to the enjoyment and convenience of rear occupants. "

Well, that's one thing unique about it that we can hope to see in the 2016 RLX MMC...

That modulo decklid spoiler is waaay better than that horrible one we get here in the US. Much more tasteful and attaches in a much cleaner fashion than the bulky overhanging lips on the top side of the deck.

not to mention all the other cool looking add-ons they provide. Under side door projection-LED graphics? additional cameras? VICS?? (what is that?).

Grrrr....not gonna whine, but man, where is this stuff for us US customers?

Ye gods yes. You had to know that Mugen was coming! In for the sports suspension. That greatly improves the stance, ie getting rid of the wheel gap.

Time for someone to get their JDM on, yo!

....must have.....that wood-enhanced steering wheel.....that would complement the interior nicely.

The Legend (Sorry, RLXegendo doesn't roll off the tongue like RLegendo did. )will be available in Japan in January. Mayhap the USDM RLX will be available shortly thereafter?

I'm hoping the wood trim steering wheel makes it to the US offering. That and a revised rear seat digital control panel (both of which are on the MDX). And I have an extra LEGEND badge waiting.

I am going to the Tampa Auto Show Friday and hope I can get some 2016MY info (if not to reaffirm the rumors in the forum).

Of course, what we wonder about right away is whether it matches our wood...or clashes with out wood.

If you examine the interior pictures of the JDM 5G New Legend, it looks like it might have a different kind of wood accent than we have.

This has been a source of minor conflict between Honda and US Acura dealers for quite some time, the dealers feeling that they would be better off if Acura were a standalone marque the way that Lexus is. E.g., it's still a Lexus LS460 wherever you buy it, the USA or the UK.

If you watch the details of publications, you might have noticed that there seems to be an Acura-only motor already past the design stages.

exactly for that reason.

Is the best way to address low sales is to do nothing?

From what I am reading the LEGEND will be launched in Japan, Australia, Europe and some South American markets ONLY in Sport Hybrid form.

Since the US sales of PAWS is likley not to grow in the current form, would anyone care to speculate if the PAWS RLX is heading to the breakers? Perhaps the RLX will only live on in Sport Hybrid configuration?

I suggest we revert to the actual Japanese pronunciation; Regendo!

The updated reports I see from yesterday are stating NO LEGEND for Australia but Europe likely....

"The new Legend will go on sale in Japan in January (the company had previously confirmed a late 2014 debut), but Honda’s Australian arm has confirmed that, at this stage, there is no plan for a local launch.

As expected, the 2015 Legend, which replaces the now 10 year-old fourth-gen model, will share its styling with the RLX sedan launched in the US this year under the banner of Honda’s luxury arm Acura.

In Japan, and likely also in Europe, the new Legend will be offered exclusively with a 3.5 litre V6 mated to a trio of electric motors to create a hybridised ‘Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive’ system"

2015 Honda Legend Revealed | The Motor Report

and maybe Malaysia as a Honda or Acura...

"Honda is also proud of the Legend’s new Honda Sensing system. The suite of active safety systems, which first appeared on the US-market 2015 Honda CR-V facelift, has been updated with a world-first feature called Pedestrian Collision Mitigation Steering (PCMS).

Honda Sensing also includes Collision Mitigation Braking (braking only), Road Departure Mitigation (steering wheel vibrations if stray, corrective input, braking), Lane Keeping Assist (steering assist, vibrations if stray, >65 km/h), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (can come to a full stop and start off again) and Traffic Sign Recognition, among other things.

Not likely, given the info in another thread on the RLX board indicating that a dealer has said the 2016 Sport Hybrid production will be limited to 20 per month for the U.S. market. It would be hard to believe that Acura would abandon the non-Sport Hybrid models to sell such a small volume of cars.

Just noticed the Chinese RLX has a slightly different style of the chrome door trim, but probably just as hard to get as the Modulo's if you don't live in Asia...

And they have to deny us completely for 2015 MY to meet their sales goals in the Asian markets.

A little too much for me, though. $2500.00 worth of carbon fiber sticking out there just waiting for one of my superior parking jobs.

$1800 for the Mugen rear spoiler?

Well. I guess I won't be buying a spoiler just yet.

If Mugen could design a kit for the Accord, why not the Legend? Perhaps cuz it's more "grown up"?

Well, they did. It's in the pictures above.

It sounds like you might be after a more radical look, but there isn't much that Mugen could do that would improve the aerodynamics at the same time they were doing something different just to satisfy the home market's desire for that.

When you add to that the enormous cost of anything that they could produce, like $2400.00 for the front carbon fiber blade and $1800.00 for the rear tiny lip, they would have to realize that the demand for these kinds of things is not going to be very great in North America.

Both the Mugen picture and the Honda Access/Modulo accessories include side pieces, but I doubt many people are going to buy them. There isn't much to improve on as far as the aero goes, not if you really mean business instead of looks, and the high speed stability of the 5G Legend is limited less by its aerodynamics and more by the need to allow the rear electric motors to do what they need to do.

The North American RLX Sport Hybrid is limited to 130 mph, for this reason, although the car is clearly capable of quite a bit more. Even conventional SH-AWD vehicles require the driver's attention at speed. These cars don't drive themselves, and this is why people who like the Cadillac Escalade are not very fond of the way that the Acura MDX handles US Interstates or the Queen Elizabeth Highway.

I'm not saying that they need to change that, either. It's part of the overall philosophy of their cars, and there isn't any need to be driving a 5G Legend at 160 mph. Nobody really understands vehicle dynamics at 80 mph, much less twice that speed. Just watch drivers on each other's bumpers on US Interstates at 80 mph. It's incredible. If anything goes wrong, somebody's going to die because people don't understand vehicle dynamics at those speeds.

So, anyway...I'm not sure what else to say.

If that $2400.00 Mugen carbon fiber blade jutting out the front isn't radical enough for you, I don't know what would be.

To clarify...I was referring to traditional underbody spoiler pieces that look like they were designed for the car (like the Accord's), not some tacked-on pieces that anyone could probably find at Home Depot for a similar look (no offense to Mugen), like that SEMA RLX from last year

I'm sure the previous Legend didn't need aero improvements or more high-speed stability either, yet they made a proper kit for it anyway. I suppose this time around they looked at the types/tastes of customers that buy these cars, and likely the lack of interest with the previous kit, and decided it wasn't worthwhile. Then again they still put in the time/energy to design these (IMO more radical looking) tacked-on pieces, so you have to wonder why...

:-)

Perhaps if the United States got more than 250 Sport Hybrids, or if the marketing in the US and Canada had been aimed differently, they'd have been motivated.

It certainly did not hurt the image of the previous generation Legend that it was Ichishima's personal daily driver that he demonstrated on the track more than a couple of times!

Exclamation Must Have the Chrome Door Handles

Honda has outlined some of the show cars that will be on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January.

Headlining the display will be the Cyber Concept N-Box Slash Code: 89, a customized version of the recently released N-Box Slash (or simply "N/" according to the tailgate) supercompact. However, while the production version is available with a variety of retro-themed interiors like a pastel-and-ivory Hawaiian surf shack or a red-and-checkerboard 1950s diner, the Code: 89 takes the opposite tack.

It strips away the chrome and dog dish hubcap-style wheels for an design that could be cruising the surface of the Death Star. The upper grille comprised of geometrically arranged hexagons. An "OPEN" arrow on the hood recalls the hatch of a fighter jet space station. Its yawning lower grille is beset with yet more polygons, surrounded by fog lights that glow like the warp core of the starship Enterprise. Even the spokes on the wheels form hexagons.

In addition, Honda is promising Mugen-tuned versions of the Legend (aka Acura RLX), recently-launched Grace (Fit sedan) hybrid, an artsy N-One Relax Concept an N-One built for a 1-make race series, and an unnamed new 6-seater hybrid model.

I still say that Mugen blade is just asking for trouble! :-)

Not sure I trust my driving enough to have that much money preceding the vehicle!
