HELP - Acuralink Services Not Functioning
It appears that the last visit to the Service Center (for the headlight TSB) rendered my Acuralink non-functional. It basically acts as thought Acuralink doesnt exist.
* Solid red-light 100% of the times
* Acuralink and Emergency Call buttons are non-functioning.
* All Acuralink options in the Infotainment system are grayed-out.
* No Realtime Traffic at all. Indicator icon is non-existant.
I called Client Relations and they said everything looked good on their end, so likely an issue with the car and that I'll have to take it back in (grrrr)
I recall someone else here (Mike TX?) having a similar issue and it required a "reset"? Anyone know what that reset operation is? Really dont want to (or have the time) to get the car back into the service center and would love to just be able to perform the reset myself if possible.
TIA!

I had the all the issues you are describing.
Called Acura and everything was OK on their side. I was told to take the car for diagnostics. Guess what...It was a faulty Telematics unit. It was replaced and everything is working now.

thanks for the feedback wutuguy...looks like that might be my issue as well.
I poked around the diagnostics last night and found an area that appears to be related to the cellular system that Acuralink uses. It had an area for testing cell signal strength, and it just failed. So definitely something funky with the cellular system.
Scheduled to drop her off tomorrow at the Service Center. My gut says they'll have to order the part and I'll be back in a loaner again...

All I know is that they were insistent XM and I eventually got the credit

That is interesting. I do know that the traffic service and weather information does come through XM, as I had to add it to my XM service to get the additional data to come to the car, so that's probably what they were referring to as part of your credit. You have to have XM add the traffic and weather services to your XM service in order for your Acuralink Connect or Premium service to receive the additional data from XM. The missing traffic/weather information from my system is just one symptom out of the list that indicate the entire Acuralink system is down in my car.
From what I can tell, the core portion of Acuralink (the actual phone call and communication services) is all cellular based on Acura's service. It appears to just be a built-in cellphone device in the car that is calling a special number that goes to a call-center of employees hired by Acura or some call-center service that Acura outsources to provide the concierge and other services. In this day in age, I highly doubt any company pays for their own call-center anymore, they just outsource it to larger companies that specialize in these services for a monthly fee.
From how I've seen Acuralink work in other cars (and how it's described on acura.com) the basic service features are free and do not require a subscription to work. Mine just flat out doesn't work at all.

I'm sure the Concierge is outsourced
I'm still not sure whether the traffic actually comes over XM
It is different than my 2005 RL traffic service. The range of traffic is much less, but the amount of traffic on surface streets is way more
I'd rather have more freeway range than surface street coverage. When I'm heading out for a trip the optionsfor different routes are limited if I cannot see traffic more than 50 miles out

Sorry getakey - you're right. The XM traffic/weather is not associated with Acuralink. It was something I had to add to my wife's XM account in order for her to get traffic/weather info on her ILX Nav system, since the 2013 ILX does NOT have Acuralink. I "crossed-the-streams" in my mind
I'll report back once the car goes in and find out what ends up being the issue with mine.

I had the problem many moons ago and after many hours at the dealership with them on the phone with Acura, the last step in the TS procedure was to disconnect and reconnect the battery....Success!!
Remember to see green during the start cycle...

she's back in the shop so they can look at the acuralink issue, update my infotainment software, and address and ongoing brake issue I've had since my front-end collision accident back in Sept.
