fuel pump

I just had my fuel pump replaced on my '14 RLX. Took my car in for a minor maintenance and asked the service writer to have the technician diagnose a noise in the engine bay. It was a ticking noise unlike what the engine normally makes. I had heard it when I got out of the car while it was idling. Was told there is a service bulletin out for this item.

That must only apply to non Sport Hybrid models right? My service writer did not see any service bulletins for that when I had my car in for the dash lights issue I had earlier this week and last weekend. Forgive my ignorance, but how would a ticking sound in the engine bay have anything to do with a fuel pump? Fuel starvation? I would think the sound would be something related to the lifters (if our cars have those). Sorry I'm a little old school as I don't think we don't have push rods in the motor. Am I wrong?

It actually applies to all RLX, P-AWS and SH-AWD, MDX and TLX.....
From the Official TSB thread:

TSB 16-008 - High Pressure Fuel Pump Chirps was revised to include the 2017 RLX.

TSB 16-008 - High Pressure Fuel Pump Chirps

We would all be lost without you pgeorg! As usual you are our superhero. It is good to know that if we experience this noise, that there is a repair out there already. I wonder if that is a manufacturing, environmental, or end user issue that causes this chirping?

From the TSB HPFP diagram, there's a cam in the fuel pump. Go figure.
