Fuel Gauge accuracy
Fuel Gauge accuracy
Does anyone here has a problem withe the fuel gauge accuracy?
What I see is:
after 100 miles of driving -the gauge show 7/8 of a tank
After 200 miles, 1/2 a tank
After 300 Miles 0 and low fuel turns on.
when I fill the tank I usually fill 12 gallons, which means 3.5 gallons left.

About normal with all the Acura's I've owned in the past since 06. It over estimates from full-1/2 tank and underestimates from 1/2 tank down. Almost like the fuel gauge level is skewed around 1/4 tank too high? I got in the habit of displaying and resetting my Trip-A setting when I fuel up and using that as my back-up fuel gauge. It is usually around 315-335 miles for 17-18 gallons my 11 MDX and 400-425 miles for 15-16 gallons my 19 MDX hybrid (about 10%-15% higher mpgs with 100% hwy).
My 11 MDX is really bad about the fuel gauge being off. I can put in an extra 4 gallons after the fuel pump clicked off. That would give me an extra 80-90 miles before the fuel gauge would move away from full mark (extra range comes in handy out west at 75-80 mph posted speeds, mountains, 5000-11,000 foot elevations, and +350 miles between fuel stops). The most I've put into my 11 MDX as 23.7 gallons for the 20 gallon tank with DTE under 20 miles and the gas light on.
I've noticed the 1/2 tank fuel gauge almost equals the vehicles mpg for that tank of gas by the Trip-A display. An example is on my 19 MDX hybrid will show around 240-250 miles on Trip-A at a 1/2 tank and my average mpgs are around the same (gallons divided by miles seems the most accurate compared to Acura M.I.D. display).
