How can I look at how many miles I have left in my 2012 MDX after the gas light comes on?

 

the 2012 MDX has a fuel tank capacity of 21 gallons.
to figure out how much fuel is left when the fuel light comes on; fill up the gas tank and subtract the amount you filled up from the total tank capacity.
I believe it's around 2 gallons left.

alternatively, I believe the MID (computer on dash) can tell you how many miles left, depending on your driving style.

 

The Distance to Empty function on my TL is off by, oh, as much as 100 miles. Said another way, once DTE shows zero I can typically drive at least 60-70 miles of normal driving, and over 100 miles if I'm on a trip. Even with those extra miles, I still have yet to have a pump click off up in the 17 gallon range.

 

yes, I believe the reserve of 2 gallons and the conservative computer display is for the absent-minded.

 

The DTE is so depended on current mpgs as calculated by the M.I.D. I would just go by the DTE shown on the M.I.D. to make sure you don't run out fuel after passing 3 gas stations. Just out of curiosity, the most fuel I put in my MDX after I drove for a while with the fuel light on was 23.7 gallons and I didn't top it off completely (I didn't see the gas in filler neck).
