Front defrost question

2018 RLX
When I use the front defrost button to clear the foggy windshield I noticed that the A/C light is not on.
As far as I remember the cars are utilizing the A/C compressor to remove the moisture from inside the car.
is it on purpose?

if it's pulling fresh air then i don't think A/C is needed. i don't remember A/C on with that in my 17 MDX

It is not enough to pull fresh air, you need the compressor to remove the humidity from inside the car

Do you live in a low humidity area? Humidity is usually in the low double digits in the southwest. Interior window fog doesn't happen very often and heat with or without A/C works equally as well to clear it out. Sometimes, it is faster to roll down the windows for a few minutes when driving if cabin heat hasn't kicked in yet.

Maybe it depends on the area. If you turn up the fan speed higher, the fresh air maybe enough. It's enough for me in all these years at least.
