Factory Car Cover Vs Aftermarket (not sure where to post this)

I don't have a garage to store this car and I have cats that like to jump all over things and I need to protect the car from the elements. I am not sure what that almost $300 car cover is made out (acura OEM) of as I don't see the materials. I am also looking at
Platinum Shield Car Cover 2014 RLX Acura Car Covers at CarCovers.com

Would I be best to get the OEM car cover or that one from carcovers.com? Carcovers.com has cheaper ones but I want the best but if the platuimum one is as good as the OEM one I can save $100. (ebay has OEM one for $225 or so).

I bought a RainX one from Walmart and when I took the cover off I can see water under it so that didn't protect it worth a damn. Any ideas let me know.

I used to have my 3G TL outside parked under a car cover anytime the car was clean and pretty much daily as long as the weather cooperated. My last car cover for the TL was a custom fit Covercraft NOAH cover (i actually went through two covers in 6 years). It worked quite well and breathed to allow water vapor to evaporate off the car as needed. My TL now sleeps in the garage

Check out the Covercraft site for the different materials. I'm not sure of the OEM covers and what material it is made out of. I have heard over time the OEM cover will eventually leave dust on the car.

The OEM Honda/Acura covers are generally quite good--I own one for my S2000--but are usually rated for inside.

Krava, I would spend the money on a good Covercraft cover rated for outside and fitted for the RLX to avoid issues. Expensive, yes, but you need something that will not get rain under it, and which will stand up to having cats walking all over it.

Here's an example at $224, less than the OEM cover:

C17635GK Covercraft Custom Car Cover for ACURA RLX 2014-2015

You can find similar at your preferred vendor.

I have the OEM 3g TL car cover and it's been great.

I remember a 4G TL owner saying that the OEM cover leaves dust on the car after a year.

The cover craft NOAH cover as I said before, worked really well and was able to withstand pretty knarly thunderstorms.

Car Covers at California Car Cover

Not sure if you considered this one but I asked a similar question last year and a member suggested California Car Covers. They make high quality custom fitted car covers made of a breathable water repellent
material. Good customer service. The gentleman listened to what I wanted and pointed me in the right direction. Check them out.
