Considering 2020 RLX Hybrid
I’m looking to jump head first into the Acura community as the opportunity to buy a 2020 RLX hybrid has come up. It is red on black with 39,000 miles. It’s a two owner car (leased new then leased again as an Acura CPO). Scanning the forums here I see two people with engines that failed a discussions from others about the TMU failing and $11k - $13k repairs. The car I’m looking at appears To be in great shape, but I don’t have any records of specific service (there are general records of service on the CarFax at Acura dealers exclusively though)
The dealer has had it for a while and currently asking $33.8k but I’m confident I can get them to go below $33k. Is this a dumb idea? Is a catastrophic failure that common? I’m also about 2.5 hours from the nearest Acura dealer.

i previously had lexus they have more engine issues and other issues like vaccum pump and cylinder issues etcs..
and germans hey they have a lot of issues.

The first year, 2014, had some issues but my 2016 RLX-SH has been fantastic. Super reliable. Still driving everyday, approaching 90,000 miles. I’d have zero hesitation buying a two owner 2020, especially if you can get records or CarFax.
Depending on what you find in service records, 39,000 miles and 5 years is a good mark to change all the fluids - transmission, differential, brake fluid, coolant.
See you out there!
