Cold weather report

Hi all. I'm in Arlington, Virginia and drive an RLX with the advanced package and just got through a stretch of winter weather capped by the "arctic vortex" that caused temperatures to plummet for 48 hours, leading me to the following observation, suggestion and complaint.
Observation: my windows don't want to work when the temperature fall below 20 degrees F.
Suggestion: if the weather calls for freezing rain followed by snow, consider disabling the folding feature on the side mirrors - it was surprisingly difficult to clear out all of the ice to allow the mirrors to fully open.
Complaint: the heated seat feature does not work very well, certainly not as well as the previous generations' heated seats. Although the lower back of the seat can get quite toasty, the seats themselves remain tepid at best. Perhaps the problem stems from the dual cooling/heated seat feature, but it isn't all that satisfactory.

Although SE TX did not see extremely low temps, we did get to 22F one night. My car is garage kept except during work hours in which the garage is open, not enclosed. My windows worked without an issue and the heats certainly did get very hot, even the setting on one was very warm. Your seat heaters may be at fault.

Have you ever noticed the heated seat shutting itself off too?

^^the seat heaters cycle on and off. once it reaches a certain temp the seat heater cycles off for a short time but will heat back up.

odd....your window should roll down in cold weather. both my Acuras function mostly normally in wicked cold crap. my MDX is a little cranky in cold weather at start up but otherwise...no issues.

I live and travel an area from Culpeper VA to Arlington VA and Washington DC, experiencing the same arctic blast phenomenon as the original poster. 5* F in the mornings.

I thought my RLX did very well, experiencing no difficulties whatsoever!

maybe you two (george k and dbuckley) are the lone RLXs i've spotted driving around. i literally have only seen FIVE since they debuted. perhaps 1 or 2 of them are one in the same.

can't say i've tried using the windshield washer fluid when it's been stupid cold.

Other than the ones at Radley, I have only seen one black one on the road.

The first car that I ever owned was a Porsche, and back then they all used to wave at each other because they were unusual.

Maybe the RLX will be that rare and we'll have to be saluting each other.

^^kind of like hard core old school jeep wrangler guys.

dealer cars don't count. the RLX is certainly easy to spot with the jewel eyes. even if someone doesn't know what it is it may turn a head or two just with the head lamps alone. same with the new MDX. some of those people may say it might be audi like with the fancy lights (of course any real car person knows the real difference). i've had people say to me nice bmw in my TL. um yeah...thanks?

I'd have to say the seat heaters work quite well in the frozen Northeast. Toasted buns are welcome here.
